On September 9, Cambodia officially put Techo International Airport into operation, replacing Phnom Penh International Airport which has completely stopped operating.

Construction began in 2020, with an initial investment of 1.5 billion USD from the Cambodia Airport Investment Company, Techo International Airport covers an area of about 2,600 hectares in Kandal and Takeo provinces, located south of the capital Phnom Penh, about 20 km from the city center. Techo International Airport is capable of handling about 13 million passengers per year in its initial phase.
