
The visit of the Lao Supreme People's Court delegation contributes to further promoting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, while opening up directions for more practical, effective and deeper cooperation in the judicial field between the two countries.
At the meeting, Chief Justice of the Lao People's Court Vienthong Siphandone congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in recent times, especially the results of the revolutions in organizational apparatus, and affirmed that Vietnam's position in the international arena has been increasingly consolidated when it was chosen as the venue for the signing of the Hanoi Convention on combating cybercrime.
In the context of complicated developments in the world and regional situation, Laos always believes in and stands side by side with Vietnam to foster the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.
Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Le Minh Tri also congratulated the results and achievements that Laos has achieved in recent times, including the successful organization of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (March 22, 1955 - March 22, 2025).
Comrade Le Minh Tri said that the similarities in many aspects between the two countries over the past time have contributed to consolidating and developing the strong relationship between the two countries.
At the meeting, the Chief Justices of the Supreme People's Courts of the two countries reviewed the good results of cooperation between the Courts of the two countries and informed about the judicial reform of each country.
Comrade Le Minh Tri shared with the Chief Justice of the Lao Supreme People's Court and the working delegation about the current situation of Vietnam and the court system. He said that Vietnam has had a strong revolution with many breakthroughs in different fields, including the revolution in the organization of the apparatus at both the central and local levels.
The People's Court system of Vietnam currently operates on a three-tier model with a mechanism of increased decentralization to regional courts. Vietnam currently has 34 provincial people's courts and 355 regional people's courts.
From July 1, 2025, the court system has operated under a new organizational model. Many policy documents have been amended and supplemented to ensure smooth operation to effectively serve people and businesses.
The Politburo has issued eight fundamental Resolutions, creating breakthroughs in the country's leadership and direction to soon realize the goals of the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding and the 100th anniversary of the country's founding.

The Chief Justices of the Supreme People's Courts of the two countries also discussed re-signing the Cooperation Agreement between the two Supreme Courts (signed in 2008) and promoting cooperation between local Courts after Vietnam reorganized its administrative units.
Regarding the contents related to the signing of the new Cooperation Agreement, the Chief Justices of the Supreme People's Courts of both sides discussed to ensure specific contents, strict procedures, ensuring practical and effective cooperation, contributing to the cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation and exchange of experiences at the central level, share experiences in professional work and judicial reform; encourage the establishment of online exchange channels to share documents and experiences; create conditions for local courts to have many connection activities, both directly and online, especially the exchange of cross-border cases.
Along with that, the two sides will also strengthen professional training for Lao judges in traditional fields such as civil and economic as well as new fields such as bankruptcy, intellectual property court, and specialized courts.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam affirmed that the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam is always ready to support the Supreme People's Court of Laos in sharing experiences in judicial reform, training officials, applying information technology and digital transformation.
