Apple officially released iOS 16.5

On the morning of May 19, Apple released the iOS 16.5 upgrade. This new operating system version includes a number of improvements, bug fixes, and security updates for iPhone.

According to 9to5mac, iOS 16.5 will be the final official update to the iOS 16 operating system. To upgrade to this operating system version, users can access Settings > General > Software Update.

In iOS 16.5, Apple added a number of new features including Pride wallpapers, Sports tabs in Apple News, Spotlight fixes, and Screen Time. Specifically, Pride wallpapers for the lock screen are intended to support the LGBTQ+ community and culture. The Sports tab gives users access to news, scores, and more from the teams and leagues they follow. Score and schedule cards take users to pages for more information about the games.

iOS 16.5 also fixes an unresponsive Spotlight bug, a bug where Podcasts in CarPlay wouldn't load content, and a bug where Screen Time settings were also fixed.

While there aren't many notable new features, users should download iOS 16.5 as soon as possible because this version fixes 39 serious security vulnerabilities. Apple notes that 3 of these have been exploited in the wild.

The iOS 17 operating system is expected to be introduced by Apple at the WWDC 2023 event taking place in June. According to MacRumors, iOS 17 will add some options for font size on the lock screen. In addition, users can also share their own lock screen designs with other iPhone users.
