After the historic flood, 13 households in Hong Nhi Pa village had their houses completely collapsed, not to mention the households affected or having to be urgently relocated. To quickly stabilize the lives of the people, the locality planned the Hong Nhi Pa resettlement area and deployed the leveling of the ground for the 13 households whose houses were completely collapsed and washed away to move in, combined with financial support and materials for the households to quickly rebuild their houses.
With the support, visits and encouragement from the State, all levels, sectors, benefactors and especially the companionship, sharing and help of the villagers, right after rebuilding their houses, the households were able to work, produce, develop their family economy and build a new life.
Mr. Thao A Su said: "After the flood, my family's house completely collapsed and all of our belongings were swept away with mud. Luckily, everyone in the family escaped in time. After the flood, the whole family had to stay with someone else while waiting to rebuild a new house. When the State allocated land in the resettlement area, and then supported with funds and materials, my family asked the villagers to help with labor to rebuild the new house and stabilize our lives. At the same time, my family was also supported with many necessities and household appliances to ensure our lives and to develop our economy with peace of mind. In addition, thanks to the resettlement area's convenient traffic and electricity, by the end of 2024, after review, my family was recognized as having escaped poverty."
In addition to Mr. Su’s household, other households in the Hong Nhi Pa resettlement area are also actively restoring production, raising livestock, and developing the economy to soon escape poverty. In 2025, Hong Nhi Pa village will continue to help 3 households out of the group of 13 households in the resettlement area escape poverty.
Mr. Sung A Sinh - one of the households expected to escape poverty this year shared: "Although the flood swept away all the assets and property that had been built up over half a lifetime, fortunately all family members were fine, so after the flood, they still had the spirit to start over. Above all, thanks to the attention of all levels, sectors, localities, benefactors and the sharing of the villagers, my family quickly overcame the difficulties; bought back the necessary daily necessities and conveniences and felt secure to focus on economic development."
Immediately after the flood passed, Hong Nhi Pa village mobilized people to focus on restoring production, leveling damaged and buried fields for re-cultivation. Up to now, the whole village has restored 37 hectares of rice fields to the same level as before the flash flood for intensive cultivation, of which 33 hectares are planted twice a year. To increase income, people also promote livestock farming.
Up to now, the village has developed 4 livestock models according to Resolution No. 69 of the Provincial People's Council, including: 3 models of raising specialty pigs with a scale of 3 sows and 20 pigs or more, 1 model of raising buffaloes and cows with a scale of 10 or more; the rest of the households raise livestock to ensure their livelihood.
Mr. Cu A Du - Head of Hong Nhi Pa village said: "Up to now, people's lives have basically stabilized, the fields have turned green again, and people are confident in building a new life. However, in the resettlement area, there is still 1 household lacking water for daily use. We hope that all levels and sectors will create conditions to build a large tank to store water at the source and make a distribution line for all 13 households so that all households have water to use."
Although the historic flood affected many households in the village, from houses to fields, crops, livestock, but with the participation of the entire political system, businesses, organizations, individuals, philanthropists and the sharing and help of local people, the efforts of the affected households, after nearly 2 years, life in the "flood center" has revived. By the end of 2024, the number of poor households in Hong Nhi Pa village had decreased to 54/98 households, of the 13 households whose houses were completely collapsed, 2 households escaped poverty.
