Apple revives the T9 keyboard of 'brick' phones on iOS 18

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên21/06/2024

According to iMore , Apple has just surprised everyone by announcing the integration of T9 dialing technology into the Phone app on iOS 18. This feature was once considered legendary on 'brick' phones in the late 1990s, allowing users to enter letters corresponding to numbers on the keyboard to search and make calls quickly.

With iOS 18, iPhone XS and later users will be able to experience this "old" feeling right on their modern smartphones. Just open the Phone app, switch to the Keypad screen and enter the letters corresponding to the numbers, the system will automatically suggest the contact name to find. For example, if you need to search for 'Mom', just enter 6-6-6.

In addition to the T9 keyboard, the Phone app on iOS 18 is also upgraded with call recording and automatic voice-to-text conversion thanks to Apple Intelligence.

However, users do not need to wait until the official launch of iOS 18 to experience T9 dialing. Currently, there are some applications on the App Store such as Type Nine that enable T9 usage across the iOS system, including Messages and WhatsApp applications.

The return of T9 is not only a convenient feature, but also a meaningful gift for users who have been attached to the old phones of the past. This is also a testament to Apple's efforts in combining modern technology with traditional values.
