Apple has enjoyed major successes despite economic uncertainty, most notably the iPhone 16e. With a starting price of just $599, the iPhone 16e was released by Apple in March to replace the iPhone SE 2022, the most affordable device in the company's iPhone lineup.
Samsung came in second with 18% market share, down slightly from 21% in Q1 2023. The South Korean tech giant had a slow start this year due to a late launch of its Galaxy S25 series, but sales improved in March.
Xiaomi also secured third place with a 14% market share, up from 13% the year before. The Chinese tech giant’s expansion was aided by growth in its home market, where its entry into the electric vehicle segment boosted its presence. Vivo and OPPO rounded out the top five.

The global smartphone market grew 3% year-on-year in Q1 2025, but Counterpoint has revised its annual forecast and now expects a slight decline for the full year. The revision is due to increased economic uncertainty, particularly around tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.
Counterpoint believes that economic volatility could cause consumers to postpone smartphone purchases, potentially disrupting supply chains while increasing trade risks.
