According to a VNA reporter in New Delhi, on the afternoon of June 17, the Vietnam Trade Office in India, in coordination with relevant units, organized an online seminar with the theme "Vietnam-India cooperation in the electricity and electronics industry."
Attending the workshop, on the Vietnamese side, there were Mr. Bui Trung Thuong - Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Vietnam in India, Mr. Nguyen Chi Sang - Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Mechanical Industry (VAMI), Ms. Do Thi Thuy Huong - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Electronics Industry Association (VEIA) and leaders of large corporations and enterprises such as ATS, Viettronics, INTECH and LUMI.
On the Indian side, there were Mr. Veer Sagar - Chairman of the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), Mr. Ninad Ranade, Head of the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA), Mr. Aman Agarwal - Director of External Affairs - Indian Industrial Association (IIA), Mr. Vinod Sharma, Director of Deki Electronics Company and Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry of Uttar Pradesh state, and nearly 100 businesses from both countries.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Bui Trung Thuong said that Vietnam is currently an important electronics manufacturing center, especially in the field of consumer electronics and assembly, with the presence of many multinational corporations such as Samsung, Apple, Intel and LG.
At the same time, Vietnam's power sector is expanding rapidly with a strategic focus on green energy development, in line with the government 's commitment to emissions reduction and sustainable energy transition.
With a favorable geographical location, abundant labor force and modern infrastructure, Vietnam has great potential to become one of the leading electrical and electronics manufacturing centers in the region and the world .
Commercial Counselor Bui Trung Thuong hopes that through this workshop, businesses from both countries will have the opportunity to strengthen connections, share market information as well as update the latest technology trends. This will be a favorable platform for the parties to seek and develop investment and business cooperation opportunities in the field of electricity and electronics.
According to Mr. Veer Sagar - Chairman of the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) - the trade relationship between India and Vietnam has been significantly strengthened since the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AIFTA) officially came into effect in 2010. Since then, economic relations have entered a new and more sustainable stage of development.
He said the two countries should take advantage of this agreement to strengthen cooperation in many fields, especially electricity and electronics - the strengths of both countries - to jointly escape dependence on a few dominant regions.
“Through close cooperation and joint development, countries in the region can build a more resilient, flexible and self-reliant supply chain, thereby promoting inclusive and sustainable growth for the entire region,” Chairman Veer Sagar emphasized.
Also at the workshop, Mr. Vinod Sharma, Director of Deki Electronics Company and Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry of Uttar Pradesh state, highly appreciated the potential for cooperation with Vietnam in areas such as electronic component manufacturing, electrical equipment design, industrial Internet of Things (IoT) technology and charging solutions for electric vehicles.
He said that the Indian Government is implementing many strong support policies such as "Make in India," "Digital India" and programs to encourage the production of electronic components, which is a great opportunity for businesses of the two countries to invest together, transfer technology and expand the market.

Ms. Do Thi Thuy Huong, Executive Committee Member of the Vietnam Electronics Industry Association (VEIA), introduced the situation of electronics manufacturing in Vietnam and pointed out the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and India. She pointed out specific areas: manufacturing and supplying components, semiconductors and high technology, consumer electronics, digital transformation and IoT, training and research and development.
However, to move towards cooperation, Ms. Do Thi Thuy Huong said that the two countries must address challenges such as: technology gap, competition for foreign direct investment (FDI), trade barriers, and labor force. To do this, she recommended that the two countries should increase trade dialogue, joint investment, technology transfer, and brand promotion.
Representing Applied Engineering Systems Joint Stock Company (ATS), Mr. Vu Hau promoted the company's strengths in providing solutions, products and services in the field of Substation Automation as well as Control, monitoring, data collection and management of power plant and power system operations.
He said that ATS has plans to expand in the Indian market. The company's "Make in Vietnam" technology products participating in the ELECRAMA 2025 exhibition in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh have attracted special attention from Indian businesses thanks to their advanced, flexible and reliable solutions.
Mr. Dam Dac Quang, CEO of LUMI Company, introduced his strengths and proposed some cooperation methods with the Indian side: Vietnamese companies import quality components from India to serve domestic production instead of depending on certain sources, the Indian business community should prioritize investing in factories in Vietnam, producing consumer electronic components in Vietnam and exporting to countries in the region and the world, Vietnamese enterprises with advantages as manufacturers and assemblers will export household electronic products to the Indian market with preferential import taxes thanks to the AIFTA agreement...
By working closely together, India and Vietnam can build more resilient, sustainable and self-reliant supply chains. This connectivity will not only bring bilateral economic benefits but also contribute to the overall development of the Asian region./.
