AWS Launches New Data Center in Thailand

This will provide application developers, startups, entrepreneurs, enterprises, government agencies,educational institutions, and non-profits with more options to deploy applications and serve end users from AWS data centers in Thailand. At the same time, AWS plans to invest more than US$5 billion in Thailand, demonstrating the company’s long-term commitment to the country and the region.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has a new data storage center in Thailand

AWS estimates that the construction and operation of the new AWS Region will add approximately $10 billion to Thailand’s gross domestic product (GDP) and support an average of more than 11,000 full-time jobs per year at related businesses. These jobs include construction, facilities maintenance, engineering, telecommunications, and other occupations that will be part of AWS’s supply chain in Thailand.

“We are seeing an explosion in cloud adoption across Asia Pacific, as more customers tap into the potential of the world’s most powerful, reliable, and secure cloud,” said Prasad Kalyanaraman, Vice President of Infrastructure Services at AWS. “The new AWS Region in Thailand will help customers across all industries deploy cutting-edge applications with the cutting-edge technologies that AWS offers, from core cloud capabilities such as compute, storage, analytics, and networking, to services that help customers accelerate their growth, including artificial intelligence and machine learning. With today’s announcement, AWS is proud to support Thailand’s digital transformation journey, while advancing the country’s position as a regional hub for artificial intelligence.”

With the launch of the Asia Pacific (Thailand) AWS Region, AWS now has 111 Availability Zones across 35 geographic regions, and has announced plans to open 15 additional Availability Zones and 5 new AWS Regions in Mexico, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and AWS European Sovereign Cloud. Each AWS Region consists of multiple Availability Zones, deployed in separate geographic locations.

The Asia Pacific (Thailand) AWS Region is designed with three Availability Zones, located far enough apart to ensure business continuity for customers, but close enough to provide low latency for high-availability applications that use multiple Availability Zones. Each Availability Zone is equipped with independent power, cooling, and physical security, and is connected via redundant, ultra-low latency networks. AWS customers who value high availability can design applications to operate across multiple Availability Zones for increased fault tolerance.
