On May 19, the Bac Kan Provincial Red Cross Society issued a letter calling for "Join hands to help poor and near-poor households in difficult circumstances affected by natural disasters".

Accordingly, with the spirit of "helping each other", the Red Cross Society of Bac Kan province calls on philanthropists, agencies, units and businesses to support with cash, materials and necessities.

Meanwhile, according to Secretary of Bac Kan Provincial Youth Union Trieu Tien Trinh, the unit has also launched a call for support to help people in the damaged areas with the motto that every contribution, no matter how small, is a great and practical source of encouragement, helping people overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.

Bac Kan Provincial Red Cross Society and Bac Kan Provincial Youth Union commit to publicly and transparently disclose all contributions and support, and widely inform the mass media.

According to Chairman of the Bac Kan Provincial Red Cross Society Nguyen Van Cuong, the unit has sent staff to Phieng Kham village (Yen Duong commune) and Tan Luot village (Dong Phuc commune, Ba Be district) - two villages that have just suffered heavy damage from flash floods. In the immediate future, the unit will focus on supporting families who have suffered human losses and coordinate with related units to support the people. Since issuing the appeal letter on the afternoon of May 18, the unit has received a lot of financial support from benefactors.

Since May 18, a number of philanthropists have proactively gone to disaster areas to support and help people.

Bac Kan province recommends that the support and donation of money and necessities to people in damaged areas must follow the guidance and coordination of functional agencies and local authorities because currently, the roads are difficult to travel and landslides are dangerous. Philanthropists, units and agencies should avoid spontaneous activities, which are not only ineffective but also unsafe for themselves.

Over the past two days, military, police, militia, and self-defense forces have been deployed to villages severely damaged by flash floods to help people clean up and stabilize their lives.

Ba Be district, after reviewing, identified 9 communes in areas at high risk of landslides and flash floods, including: Cho Ra town, Cao Thuong, Bang Trach, Chu Huong, Khang Ninh, Nam Mau, Quang Khe, Yen Duong and Thuong Giao.

Faced with this situation, Ba Be district has requested local authorities to urgently review all areas at high risk of landslides and flash floods. Make a list of households living in dangerous areas to take measures to evacuate people to safety.

It is known that Ba Be is a locality where landslides often occur during the rainy and stormy season. Currently, the district is implementing a project to relocate residents in urgent disaster areas in Khuoi Luong village, Khang Ninh commune and a project to relocate residents in Khuoi Slun village, Thuong Giao commune. However, due to lack of resources, many other landslide-prone areas still do not have capital to deploy.
