BHG - On the night of June 28 and 29, in Nam An village, Tan Thanh commune (Bac Quang), heavy rain accompanied by flash floods and landslides caused two sturgeon farming households, Mr. Trieu Chan Loang and Mr. Pham Van Nhieu, to suffer losses of about 4.5 billion VND on a total aquaculture area of 0.22 hectares; of which, Mr. Nhieu's household suffered losses of more than 3 billion VND.
Specifically, the landslide caused soil and rocks to slide down the drainage ditch, causing water to overflow into 7 fish breeding tanks and 2 commercial fish farming tanks of Mr. Trieu Chan Loang's household, causing damage to nearly 4.5 tons of various types of fish. Meanwhile, Mr. Pham Van Nhieu's household was flooded, causing damage to 65 fish breeding tanks and 10 commercial fish farming tanks, of which 30 tanks were completely buried by soil and rocks; estimated damage was over 25,000 fish breeding tanks and 3,000 commercial fish.

Immediately after the disaster, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Bac Quang district directly went to the scene to grasp the situation, inspect, verify and determine the extent of damage. On that basis, it guided 2 households to prepare documents to propose a mechanism to support agricultural production when affected by natural disasters according to the provisions of Decree 02/2017/ND-CP, dated January 9, 2017 of the Government and Decision 806/QD-UBND, dated May 10, 2017 of the Provincial People's Committee. Currently, the People's Committee of Bac Quang district has a policy to support 97 million VND from the district budget reserve for the above 2 households; including support for fish fry (sturgeon) to restore production (48 million VND) and support for industrial feed (floating pellets) for livestock farming (49 million VND).
