Muong Village participates in the new rural development program.

The Na Mèo Border Guard Post is guiding the people of Muống village in growing two rice crops per year.

Muong village is located along the Xia stream, about 4km from the center of Son Thuy commune. The village has 85 households and 389 inhabitants. The dirt roads leading into the village, which were previously muddy and difficult to navigate, have now been paved with concrete. A spacious community center has been built; the lives of the people are changing significantly every day thanks to the exploitation of the potential of the land and climate to transform the structure of crops and livestock towards increasing value.

In 2025, despite unfavorable weather conditions, food production increased due to farmers' application of scientific and technological advancements in production, as well as their focus on pest and disease control and the introduction of new, high-yield varieties. The total cultivated area for 2025 is 22 hectares, with an estimated rice yield of 56 quintals/hectare and an estimated production of 75.6 tons; an estimated corn yield of 35.15 quintals/hectare and an estimated production of 17.57 tons; and 1.5 hectares of cassava with an estimated yield of 120 quintals/hectare. This will contribute to improving the material living standards of the villagers, with an average income of 32 million VND per person per year.

Environmental protection efforts have also been actively supported by the villagers. 100% of households have sorted waste at the source. The village has mobilized the people to build auxiliary facilities, improve environmental hygiene, and voluntarily clean up around their homes; on the 15th of every month, the village organizes a cleanup campaign of village roads and alleys.

The cultural life of the people in Muong village is also becoming increasingly rich. In the evenings, the village cultural center is filled with lively music. The village's performing arts troupe, with nearly 20 members, is the core of community activities, especially during festivals and traditional New Year celebrations. By 2025, 65 households in the village will be recognized as culturally exemplary families, and the village will maintain a performing arts troupe and an intergenerational club that operate regularly.

Mr. Lo Van Loan, a resident of Muong village, happily shared: "Thanks to the New Rural Development program, the internal and inter-village roads have been concreted, the community center has been newly built, and the villagers have a place for community cultural activities. In particular, the main road has been equipped with a solar power system. At night, the whole village is brightly lit, and the roads are much safer. The face of the countryside is changing every day, and everyone is happy and excited."

Bản Muống also consistently focuses on strengthening its security network. Currently, the village has one security and order team, four social security teams, and one mediation team to resolve incidents occurring within the village, preventing complaints from escalating to higher levels. The village has installed three security cameras and four cameras along the Xia stream to monitor security, order, and traffic safety in the area.

In 2022, Muong village was recognized as a New Rural Area. The Party branch, mass organizations, and people have strived to maintain and uphold the New Rural Area criteria, moving towards building a model New Rural Area village.

Village head Vi Van Toan of Muong village said: "To build a model new rural village, we will promote the transformation of crop and livestock structures, apply scientific and technological advancements to production to increase income, improve living standards, and alleviate poverty. We will continue to improve the quality of building cultural residential areas and cultural families, striving to have over 90% of households recognized as cultural families."

Although many challenges still lie ahead, with innovative thinking and the consensus and joint efforts of the people, we believe that Muong village will continue to have good practices on the path of building a model new rural area, so that the village will remain green and prosperous amidst the vast forest.
