On May 30, the Department of Agriculture and Environment (the standing agency of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue) held a conference to report and contribute ideas on flood prevention and control plans, and protection of key areas in 2025 of districts, towns, cities and the Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd.
In 2024, the storm and flood situation will be complicated, the flood on the Red River will rise (surpassing the historical peak in 2002), lasting for many days. In particular, Typhoon Yagi is considered the strongest in the past 30 years in the East Sea and in the past 70 years on land... causing heavy damage to the northern localities, including Hung Yen province. Therefore, localities and units in the province need to continue to be proactive in natural disaster prevention and control and guard against possible unexpected incidents, ensuring the safety of irrigation works and dykes during the rainy and stormy season in 2025.
At the conference, after listening to the leaders of the People's Committees of 10 districts, towns, cities and the Provincial Irrigation KTCT One Member Co., Ltd. present plans to prevent and combat flooding and protect key areas in 2025, delegates focused on discussing, analyzing, and giving comments on each plan.
Concluding the conference, the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment requested localities and units to review and prepare well in terms of human resources, equipment and materials in flood prevention and control, and protection of key areas according to the 4-on-the-spot principle. In particular, Hung Yen Electricity Company needs to ensure a power supply plan for pumping stations and culverts; the Provincial Irrigation KTCT One Member Co., Ltd. must be proactive and flexible in operating irrigation works to ensure timely drainage; the Provincial Police and the Provincial Military Command must proactively arrange forces and means to respond and handle search and rescue and dyke protection cases; the Department of Finance must advise the Provincial People's Committee to arrange funding for natural disaster prevention and control and search and rescue.
