Pig price news
Faced with the complicated developments of African swine fever, Nghe An province has implemented emergency solutions according to Decision No. 3385/QD-UBND dated October 1, 2020. The Department of Agriculture and Environment plays a leading role in epidemiological surveillance, control of pig transportation and trade.
Commune authorities are setting up temporary quarantine checkpoints and organizing forces to control animal transportation.
The Department of Finance is tasked with ensuring funding for epidemic prevention and control. Localities need to develop specific plans and disseminate them to the public.
Although measures have been proposed, their implementation has not been consistent and lacked determination from the grassroots level. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De has requested localities to focus all their efforts on epidemic prevention and control and not be subjective.
According to Gia Lai newspaper, on May 22, an outbreak of African swine fever was recorded at Ms. Siu H'Lan's family in Tay Son ward, Pleiku city. Immediately, the authorities coordinated to destroy and disinfect the surrounding area.
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Gia Lai province has requested localities to urgently implement epidemic prevention and control measures, including:
Disinfect the infected area daily.
Review disease situation and livestock farming statistics to have effective prevention plans.
Educate people about the epidemic situation to proactively protect livestock.
Forecasting future pig price trends
The price of live pigs is currently fluctuating between 67,000 - 76,000 VND/kg nationwide. The market has shown positive signs, indicating the return of price increases after a period of stability.
As economic activities gradually recover, demand for pork is likely to increase, especially during holidays and social events.
The disease situation, especially African swine fever, is still affecting the supply of live pigs in some localities. Disease control and culling of infected pigs may lead to a decrease in the total pig herd.
It is forecasted that the market may record some slight price fluctuations next week. If demand increases while supply is not enough to meet, the price of live pigs may continue to increase.
With the above factors, the trend of live hog prices next week is likely to increase. Farmers and traders need to closely monitor market developments and adjust production and business plans accordingly.
