The Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP) has just sent a document to the City People's Committee requesting the return of 20.17 hectares of land used to build housing for workers in the High-Tech Park in Long Thanh My Ward, Thu Duc City.

The land return was carried out after the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued Notice No. 267/TB-VP dated March 17, 2025 on the conclusion of Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan at the working session with the High-Tech Park Management Board on the 2025 work program.
In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has agreed to stop investing with the City's budget and settle the value of the implemented housing project for workers in the High-Tech Park in Long Thanh My ward, Thu Duc city (area of 20.17 hectares).
Then, following the instructions of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment), the SHTP Management Board requested to return the 20.17 ha land that had been assigned by the City People's Committee to the SHTP Management Board.
In the document sent to the City People's Committee, the SHTP Management Board stated the reason for returning the land because the Board did not have enough resources to continue investing in the construction of the housing project for people working in the High-Tech Park and no longer had a need to use this land.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is reviewing and resolutely reclaiming slow-moving projects in the High-Tech Park to reclaim land to attract new investors in the semiconductor and microchip sectors.
Therefore, the SHTP Management Board's request to return the land of more than 20 hectares is appropriate in the context that Ho Chi Minh City is lacking land to attract investment in new projects.
