This improvement is mainly thanks to the accumulated points from the wins over Cambodia (FIFA days friendly) and Laos (ASEAN Cup 2027 qualifiers), along with important victories at the end of 2024, especially against Thailand in the final.

In total, the Vietnamese team was awarded 19.04 points.

Despite rising 5 places, Vietnam is not the team with the biggest leap in Southeast Asia. Myanmar is the team with the most impressive breakthrough, rising 7 places to 162nd place.

Indonesia and the Philippines also made progress, rising four places to 123rd and 146th respectively. Meanwhile, Malaysia only rose one place to 132nd in the world.

Thailand is the only team in the group of strong Southeast Asian teams to be relegated.

Due to losing to the Vietnamese team in the ASEAN Cup final, they were deducted points and dropped 2 places to 99th. However, Thailand is still the number one team in the region, 10 places higher than the Vietnamese team.

The next FIFA rankings will be updated in July 2025. Before that, teams will have a series of FIFA Days matches in June.

The Vietnamese team will have an important away match against Malaysia in the second round of the final qualifying round of the ASEAN Cup 2027.

* Two goals by Nguyen Thi Linh Chi and Truong Yen Linh helped the Vietnam U17 Women's Team win 2-1 in a friendly match against the Thailand U17 Women's Team.

Two calm moves to eliminate the defenders' pursuit, before launching a decisive left-footed shot that hit the visitors' net. That was a masterpiece by midfielder Truong Yen Linh, sealing a 2-1 victory for the Vietnam Women's U17 Team against the visiting Thailand Women's U17 Team at the People's Police Academy Football Field ( Hanoi ).

In the end, the Vietnam U17 Women's team won 2-1 against the visiting Thailand U17 Women's team, with goals from Nguyen Thi Linh Chi and Truong Yen Linh.
