Latest V-League rankings: CAHN Club easily 'empty-handed', HAGL happily in top 9?

The rankings after the matches on the evening of May 26 did not have many changes, when Nam Dinh Club defeated SLNA to keep the top position, and Hanoi Club also defeated CAHN Club to maintain the little remaining hope in the championship race.

Exciting V-League

The 5-point gap on the V-League standings with the leading team Nam Dinh puts Hanoi FC in a difficult position in the championship race. Coach Makoto Teguramori's team must beat Hanoi Police FC (CAHN FC) in the match on the evening of May 26 in round 24, and hope that Nam Dinh FC stumbles against SLNA, in order to hope to maintain the championship race.

However, Nam Dinh Club has fulfilled the necessary condition when they beat SLNA with a score of 3-2 right at Vinh Stadium (in the match taking place at 6:00 p.m. on May 26) to temporarily widen the gap to 8 points.

The victory of the Southern team forced Hanoi FC to beat CAHN FC, otherwise, they would surrender in the race to the throne.

Winning against CAHN FC is not an easy goal. Although currently floating in fifth place, coach Alexandre Polking and his team are still a team with great strength, as demonstrated by their runner-up position in the ASEAN Club Championship (losing to Buriram United on penalties). CAHN FC still has the motivation, because if they win the remaining matches, Quang Hai and his teammates will definitely be in the top 3.

However, Hanoi FC held on to their last hopes in the championship race when they defeated CAHN FC with a score of 2-0.

After 24 matches, Nam Dinh FC leads with 51 points. Hanoi FC is second with 46 points. The 5-point gap means Hanoi FC still has a chance to win the championship, although it is very slim.

With 5 points more than second-placed Hanoi, Nam Dinh Club only needs one more win to ensure successful defense of the throne.

The following positions remain unchanged. The Cong Viettel is in third place with 38 points after 24 matches, Ha Tinh is in fourth place with 35 points after 23 matches, and CAHN Club closes the top 5 with 33 points after 23 matches. CAHN Club is very unlikely to be in the top group with the V-League title this season.

V-League rankings on May 26

Returning to the highlight match at Hang Day Stadium, the match between CAHN and Hanoi was "hot" from the first minutes. Facing an opponent who was exhausted after going through a fierce marathon alternating between V-League and ASEAN Club Championship, Hanoi FC took the initiative and continuously fired at the goal. However, after many missed opportunities, it was not until the end of the first half that Pham Tuan Hai broke the deadlock for Hanoi FC with a delicate shot that defeated Nguyen Filip.

The drama came in the second half, when defender Pham Xuan Manh received a red card, leaving Hanoi FC with only 10 players from the 62nd minute. CAHN FC put pressure on the visitors, but Hanoi still kept their net clean.

In the 87th minute, Daniel Passira extinguished the home team's hopes of scoring a point with a neat cross-angle shot, ending an impressive counter-attack by Hanoi FC to close the match with a score of 2-0.

SLNA is still in trouble

Despite their best efforts in the match against Nam Dinh FC, SLNA still lost 2-3. The situation at the bottom of the table has not changed for the time being. Binh Dinh FC is at the bottom of the table with 20 points after 22 matches. Second to last is Da Nang with 21 points after 24 matches.

Although Da Nang FC is 1 point ahead of Binh Dinh, it has played 2 more matches. If Binh Dinh FC gets at least 1 point after 2 make-up matches, Da Nang FC will fall to the bottom of the table.

Ranked 12th is Quang Nam Club with 22 points after 23 matches, while SLNA ranks 11th with 23 points after 24 matches.

SLNA is still 2 points ahead of Da Nang, however, the two teams still have one more direct match. If they win the "reverse final" against SLNA in round 26, Da Nang Club will put their opponent in an extremely difficult position in the survival race.

In round 24, Binh Dinh Club will be a guest at Thanh Hoa Stadium. Coach Tran Minh Chien and his team need at least 1 point to return to the second-to-last position.
