According to Mr. Tran Quang Hung, the shifting trend of online fraud groups focusing on the elderly, children, students, and low-income workers has been clearly demonstrated this year.

On the other hand, online fraud groups have not only limited their operations to Vietnam, but have also formed fraud organizations in neighboring countries such as Cambodia, Laos, and the Philippines, gathering many Vietnamese people to participate...

"Currently, online fraud is still widespread, also originating from users not being updated early and fully about fraud forms. The Information Security Department believes that, in addition to handling technology and technical measures, it is necessary to promote propaganda and information about online fraud forms to as many people as possible. When each citizen and each vulnerable group knows how to identify fraud forms, they will be more vigilant, helping to reduce online fraud," Mr. Hung shared.

To raise awareness and knowledge about online fraud, the Ministry of Information and Communications recently launched the campaign "Action Month to propagate and prevent online fraud", which will run from June 23 to July 23, 2023. It is expected that in August, the Department of Information Security will announce the results of this campaign.

According to a report by the Ministry of Information and Communications, in the first 6 months of 2023, the Department of Information Security recorded, warned and provided guidance on handling 6,362 cyber attacks that caused incidents to information systems in Vietnam. The number of Vietnamese IP addresses in botnets is 512,712 addresses.

The Information Security Department coordinated to block 1,530 websites/blogs that violated the law (559 online fraud sites); protected more than 2.7 million people from accessing online fraud websites that violated the law in cyberspace.
