Exactly 100 years ago, on June 21, 1925, Thanh Nien Newspaper, founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, gave birth to the Vietnamese revolutionary press. In Da Nang , the newspapers “Factory Whistle”, “Plowshare” and many publications such as “Nguoi Lao Kho”, “Be Xieng Xich”… were born, becoming propaganda tools, mobilizing the masses to fight against colonialism, contributing to the revolutionary cause of national liberation.

According to Mr. Le Quang A, Permanent Vice President in charge of the Da Nang Journalists Association, through the periods of resistance, construction and development, Da Nang's press has continuously grown. From print newspapers, radio - television to digital platforms, the press has always accompanied the Party Committee, government and people of the city on all fronts. In the digital age, international integration and social networks create many challenges, requiring the press to strongly innovate, continue to promote the role of orienting public opinion, social criticism, spreading humanistic values, contributing to building a smart and sustainable city.
People's Artist Huynh Hung, former Director of Da Nang Radio and Television Station, said that the emergence of the internet and social networks has profoundly changed the life of journalism and media, causing print newspapers to decrease in circulation, traditional television to gradually lose its audience, and advertising to shift strongly to digital platforms. Many television stations are facing financial difficulties, unpaid wages, and reduced production. While the press must comply with strict regulations and find it difficult to compete fairly with social networks, the biggest challenge is retaining audiences. In Da Nang, DanangTV faces many difficulties compared to VTV8 in terms of investment, human resources, and content. Advertising revenue is low, operations depend on the state budget and propaganda funds of local agencies.
To promote the role of local Party newspapers in the new model, Researcher Bui Xuan, former Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Da Nang City Party Committee, shared that local Party newspapers need to transform towards a convergent editorial office, integrating print, radio, television and electronic newspapers to share information and produce multimedia content. Along with that, it is necessary to innovate content and form, develop attractive columns, increase interaction on digital platforms, improve the quality and spread of information. Training a team of journalists suitable for the integrated environment is an urgent requirement.
According to Dr. Vo Cong Chanh, Head of the Internal Affairs Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee, in order for the press to effectively perform its supervisory role in preventing and combating corruption and waste, it is necessary to strengthen the training of investigative skills and professional ethics for journalists. Lack of comprehensive skills and knowledge can easily lead to mistakes, even causing danger and affecting the reputation of individuals and agencies. In many cases, the press intervenes before the investigation agency, so information must be carefully verified to avoid speculation that can cause consequences. Editorial offices need to tighten censorship, ensuring that articles have clear evidence. At the same time, the press needs to promote the application of technology, AI, and big data to build a platform to receive denunciations from people and businesses, improving transparency and effectiveness of social supervision.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, said that in the context of Da Nang - Quang Nam entering a new period of development, pioneering in science and technology development, building a modern city with rich identity, humane and high-quality Da Nang people, the press needs to continue to be the vanguard force on the ideological front, contributing to orienting public opinion and creating social consensus.
The press must strongly innovate in content and form, apply digital technology and artificial intelligence, increase interactivity, and become a platform for knowledge creation and community connection. Press agencies need to proactively build columns that closely follow the city's core tasks, contribute to orienting thinking, encouraging creativity, and promptly reflecting on shortcomings that need to be adjusted.
At the same time, the press must promote its role in propagating political events and major holidays, fighting against false information, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, and maintaining political stability. All levels and sectors need to coordinate closely, creating conditions for the press to disseminate official information, accompanying the goal of building a modern, livable city in the new era of development.
