Giao thong Newspaper inaugurated Cham Pong spillway in Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district.

According to journalist Nguyen Thi Hong Nga, Editor-in-Chief of Giao Thong Newspaper, the main sponsor of the construction of Cham Pong spillway, speaking at the ceremony, in 2023, through the Fatherland Front of Muong La district, Son La , Giao Thong Newspaper learned that Cham Pong village, Ngoc Chien commune is a village with many difficulties. The village is 5km from the commune center, every rainy season, traffic is often interrupted and people have to join hands to build a temporary bridge across the river. The temporary bridge can only be used for a very short time and is not safe.

Therefore, in mid-November 2023, Giao Thong Newspaper coordinated with Muong La district and sponsoring units to implement the Cham Pong village spillway project.

The total construction cost of the project is 1.4 billion VND, of which 1 billion VND is sponsored by Giao thong Newspaper from the Joining Hands for Traffic Safety Program. Ngoc Chien Commune People's Committee mobilized people to contribute working days and locally available materials. Mai Son Cement Company, Steel and Industrial Materials Company sponsored part of the materials. The spillway design was supported by the Transport Design Consulting Corporation.

After 3 months of construction, with design consulting and supervision, the project was completed on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024, meeting the expectations of local people.

Editor-in-Chief of Giao Thong Newspaper Nguyen Thi Hong Nga said that when the budget cannot invest in infrastructure to meet all the needs of the people, the connection between units and benefactors will help remote communes like Ngoc Chien have projects like Cham Pong spillway.

The value of the project is not too large, but the sponsors were very enthusiastic, finding every way to build the spillway in the current conditions and placing a lot of hope in the future development of the locality. Ms. Nga suggested that the locality and people preserve the spillway so that it can be used long-term and effectively.
