Storm No. 1 is active in the Hoang Sa archipelago, level 8, gust level 10

(QNO) - According to the bulletin of the Quang Nam Hydrometeorological Station, at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, June 11, the center of storm No. 1 was located at about 16.8 degrees North latitude; 111.9 degrees East longitude in the Hoang Sa archipelago.

The strongest wind near the storm center is level 8 (62-74km/h), gusting to level 10; the storm moves in a West Northwest direction at a speed of about 15km/h.

Forecast until 4pm on June 12, the storm is moving west-northwest at a speed of 10km/h, located in the sea south of Hainan Island (China). The storm is level 9-10, gusting to level 13, with the possibility of further strengthening.

Affected by the storm, the western part of the North East Sea (including the Hoang Sa archipelago) has strong winds of level 7-8, near the storm's eye level 9-10, gusting to level 13, waves 3-5m high, near the storm's eye 4-6, very rough seas.

From the night of June 11, the offshore sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai has winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, near the storm center level 8-9, gusting to level 11, waves 3-5m high, very rough seas.

From June 12, the sea area in the eastern part of the Gulf of Tonkin will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, near the center of the storm level 8, gusting to level 10, waves 2-4m high, rough seas. Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by storms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and large waves.

Quang Nam sea area in the next 24 hours will have rain, showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, beware of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. West to Northwest winds will gradually increase to level 6, in some places level 7, gusting to level 8. Areas near the storm center will have level 8-9, gusting to level 11. Wave height 2-5m, very rough seas.

From this afternoon, June 11 to the morning of June 13, localities in the province will have moderate to heavy rain; heavy rain will mainly concentrate from tonight, June 11 to tomorrow, June 12. Total rainfall in mountainous areas is generally from 70-150mm, in some places over 200mm; in plain areas it is generally from 100-200mm, in some places over 250mm.
