60 years ago, on January 3, 1964, the Standing Committee of Son La Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 03/NQ-TU on converting Tin Son La newspaper into Son La Doi Moi Newspaper, the predecessor of today's Son La Newspaper.

Over the past 60 years, under the leadership of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, the coordination of departments, branches, localities and people in the province, Son La Newspaper has promoted the tradition of solidarity, dynamism, creativity, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, worthy successor of the revolutionary newspapers "Suoi Reo", "Lac Muong" of the Son La Prison Party Cell.

In 2022, Son La Newspaper continued to receive investment from the Provincial Party Committee to implement the Project "Investing in and upgrading Son La Electronic Newspaper". In October 2023, the interface of Son La Electronic Newspaper and specialized pages in English, Thai ethnic languages, and Mong ethnic languages were officially launched. Along with that are multimedia forms, videos , Emagazine Infographic; Radio..., creating a breakthrough and highlight of Son La Electronic Newspaper.

Currently, Son La Newspaper has 3 publications: Son La Regular Newspaper, published 5 issues/week; Son La Photo News published 2 issues/month and Son La Electronic Newspaper with information updated 24/7; political events and current events are reflected boldly, quickly, accurately, attractively, and have been attracting a large number of readers.

Speaking at the Ceremony, Comrade Le Quoc Minh acknowledged, congratulated and highly appreciated the achievements and important contributions of Son La Newspaper in the past time, which have actively contributed to the overall development of the Party newspaper system nationwide.

Faced with opportunities and challenges, Son La Newspaper needs to quickly innovate to continue affirming its position. In particular, it focuses on improving the quality of journalistic works; competing with the press nationwide to make efforts and actively transform digitally to keep up with the development trend of journalism; promoting the development of works and types of journalism in a multimedia direction to meet the requirements of the task.

In his congratulatory speech to Son La Newspaper, Comrade Nguyen Huu Dong acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements and contributions of Son La Newspaper in the cause of building and developing the province in the past time. At the same time, he requested the leaders, cadres and reporters of Son La Newspaper to closely follow the policies and resolutions of the Party at all levels, the political tasks of the Provincial Party Committee; the policies, plans and strategies for socio-economic development of the province to concretize in propaganda activities.

Strengthening Party building work in press agencies; promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; promoting the tradition of solidarity in Party cells and agencies; building strong and comprehensive Party organizations, mass organizations and associations; building a team of journalists with political mettle, professional ethics, social responsibility, humanity, professionalism, and absolute loyalty to the Party's ideals and the people's interests.

Continue to innovate and improve the quality of the newspaper in terms of content and form; promptly propagate and vividly reflect practical life issues; strengthen coordination with units, departments, branches and localities in propaganda work; effectively use invested equipment and facilities; master technology, transform digital journalism towards modernity, professionalism and humanity. Promote the effectiveness of the editorial office's operations, apply new technology in professional activities, and build a multimedia press agency.

Also at the Anniversary Ceremony, representatives of former leaders and youth representatives of Son La Newspaper spoke, expressing their confidence that the Party Committee and Editorial Board of Son La Newspaper will continue to do a good job of leadership and direction, creating a favorable environment for the staff of Son La Newspaper to have conditions and opportunities to promote their intelligence, devote their enthusiasm, and continue to make positive contributions to building the agency, contributing to firmly consolidating the position and strength of the local Party newspaper in the new development stage.

On this occasion, the Son La Provincial Party Committee presented Son La Newspaper with a banner with the theme “Solidarity – Creativity – Courage – Professionalism – Modernity”. The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 10 individuals who have made many contributions to the construction and development of Son La Newspaper on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of its establishment.
