Nghi Son Town Forest Protection Department coordinated with Nghi Son Protective Forest Management Board to reduce pine forest combustible materials by controlled pre-burning in Truc Lam ward.

In order to effectively carry out forest protection (BVR), forest fire prevention and fighting (PCCCR), in recent times, Nghi Son Protective Forest Management Board has proactively deployed specific BVR and PCCCR plans and schemes in each key area. Along with that, the unit has directed and guided households contracted to exploit pine resin to clean the forest, reduce combustible materials under the forest canopy, with an area of ​​962.4 hectares in the wards and communes of Cac Son, Ngoc Linh, Tan Dan, Hai Linh, Dinh Hai, Ninh Hai, Hai Nhan, Nguyen Binh, Xuan Lam... Coordinated with Nghi Son Town Forest Protection Department and local authorities to reduce combustible materials in pine forests by pre-controlled burning in communes and wards such as Truc Lam, Mai Lam, Tung Lam, Tan Dan, Hai Linh, Ninh Hai; cleared and repaired the white fire-blocking runway system, combined with BVR and PCCCR patrols. The unit prepared forces, machinery, equipment, logistics and medical tools according to the motto "4 on-site"; Coordinate with sectors, units, communes and wards with forests to promote propaganda and mobilize households with forest contracts and local people to proactively and strictly implement regulations on forest protection and fire prevention, thereby minimizing the occurrence of forest fires.

Head of Nghi Son Town Forest Protection Department Nguyen Tran Phuong said: With the motto of prevention as the main thing, urgent, timely and thorough forest fire fighting, decisive and resolute action, limiting the possibility of flammable materials catching fire, not allowing fires to spread, the unit has completed the Steering Committee on the "Sustainable Forestry Development Program, period 2021-2025". Coordinated with agencies, departments and branches to develop a plan to propagate and mobilize people to participate in forest fire prevention and control. To proactively prevent, respond and effectively prevent the risk of forest fires, minimize the number of cases and damage caused by forest fires, the forest protection department has advised Nghi Son Town to direct functional forces and wards to effectively implement forest fire prevention and control solutions. In particular, from December of the previous year to August of the following year, at this time there is little rain, low average rainfall, the southwest wind effect often appears, causing branches and leaves of trees to dry up, especially pine needles with a lot of essential oils, creating a very dangerous source of combustible materials, the risk of forest fires is very high. With the role of the main force in forest management, protection and development, the unit has coordinated with all levels and sectors to strengthen propaganda and dissemination of forest laws, PCCCR to all classes of people, especially people living near forests, forest edges in many different forms such as: Direct propaganda through neighborhood meetings; propaganda at schools; on the radio system; signing commitments on forest protection and PCCCR.

Along with that, the unit carries out inspection, guidance and supervision of forest owners to strictly implement fire prevention and control work; organizes inspections, supervision and urging fire prevention and control work in key areas; directs forces to be on duty 24/7 during the dry season. Coordinates with competent authorities to strictly handle violations of fire prevention and control regulations; actively investigates and resolutely handles subjects causing forest fires according to the provisions of law. Invests in purchasing equipment and tools for forces participating in forest fire fighting at the grassroots level. Arranges regular forces to key areas to inspect and promptly detect violations in the field of forest protection management, preventing "hot spots" of forest fires and illegal logging. In 2024 and the first 2 months of 2025, Nghi Son Town Forest Protection Department coordinated with Nghi Son Protective Forest Management Board to build 4.5 km of firebreak combined with patrolling and forest fire fighting operations; repaired 27.65 km of firebreak built in previous years to serve patrolling, forest security inspection, and forest fire fighting operations when a fire occurs. Used chainsaws and generators to process the undergrowth, reduce combustible materials under the pine forest canopy, and undergrowth bordering the forestry land area of ​​households with high risk of fire with an area of ​​71.5 hectares. Closely monitor the burning of undergrowth and the use of fire near the forest to prevent fires from spreading into the forest... Along with that, the unit always pays attention to forest protection work and the fight against forest product smuggling. The Department has advised the Town People's Committee to develop a forest protection plan; Directing forest rangers to advise the People's Committees of communes, wards, and State forest owners to develop and effectively implement the forest protection plan. Coordinate with the Hoang Mai Forest Protection Department ( Nghe An ), communes, wards, and State forest owners to strengthen patrolling and forest security inspection. Thanks to good work in forest protection and forest fire prevention and control, over the past years, the forest security situation in Nghi Son town has always been stable and maintained.
