Barcelona wants to increase sponsorship revenue in the coming time. |
The two sides signed a deal in 2022, in which Spotify committed to paying at least €60 million per year to sponsor Barcelona's shirts, along with €5 million for naming rights to the Camp Nou stadium.
The terms of the current contract allow Spotify to unilaterally extend the agreement until 2030, if it wants to increase the annual cost to €70 million. By 2030-2034, this figure could rise to €80 million.
However, Barcelona are valuing their brand much higher than Spotify’s current valuation. Mundo Deportivo reports that the Camp Nou outfit want to increase their shirt sponsorship deal to €120 million per season, thanks to recent success with both the men’s and women’s teams. The club is confident in the negotiations, with big-name stars like Lamine Yamal, Aitana Bonmati and Alexis Putellas on their books.
The Catalan club explained this move by saying that the team is in a much better financial situation than in 2022. Mundo Deportivo suggests that Barcelona could look for other sponsors to increase revenue, although the deal with Spotify is still beneficial for both parties.
Barcelona also recently renewed their contract with kit manufacturer Nike, with the deal worth around €127 million per year.
