Surprised by the identity of the Vietnamese athlete who tested positive for doping

The Southeast Asian Sports Council has just announced the identities of 10 athletes caught doping at the 31st SEA Games. Among them are 5 Vietnamese players.

Quach Thi Lan tested positive for doping while participating in SEA Games 31

Vietnamese athletes who tested positive for doping include: Quach Thi Lan, Khuat Phuong Anh, Vu Ngoc Ha, Hoang Thi Ngoc and Le Ngoc Phuc, all in athletics.

At the 31st SEA Games, Quach Thi Lan won the 400m hurdles gold medal, 4x400m relay gold medal and 400m bronze medal. Khuat Phuong Anh won the 800m gold medal and 1,500m silver medal. Vu Ngoc Ha won the long jump gold medal and triple jump silver medal. Hoang Thi Ngoc won the 4x400m relay gold medal, and Le Ngoc Phuc was the silver medalist in the 400m and 4x400m relay events.

The Southeast Asian Sports Council will strip these athletes of their medals and award them to the next best performer.

From 22 gold medals in athletics at the 31st SEA Games, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation only has 18 medals left.

All 5 athletes mentioned above said they used the same type of functional food but did not know it contained banned substances.

According to the investigation, these 5 athletes will be banned from competing for 1-3 years by the Vietnam Athletics Federation. After that, they may receive additional penalties from the World Athletics Federation.

Before the official punishment, Vietnamese sports removed these faces from the list of participants in the 2022 National Sports Festival and the 32nd SEA Games.

In addition to the 5 Vietnamese athletes, the Thai, Myanmar and Indonesian delegations also had athletes testing positive for doping (2, 2 and 1 respectively).
