At 8pm on June 10, the Vietnamese team will face Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers at Bukit Jalil Stadium. Coach Kim Sang-sik surprised many by fielding a team without a real striker, despite Nguyen Tien Linh, Pham Tuan Hai and Nguyen Quang Hai all being healthy.
In the goalkeeper position, coach Kim Sang Sik also surprised when he chose Nguyen Filip instead of Dinh Trieu - the goalkeeper who has been the main goalkeeper since the ASEAN Cup 2024. This is understandable when Nguyen Filip has been in good form for the Hanoi Police recently.
The three central defenders in the 3-4-3 formation of the Korean strategist include Bui Tien Dung (left), Thanh Chung, Duy Manh (right).

In the midfield, the central midfielder duo Hoang Duc - Minh Khoa are also the two faces who played together in the opening match, winning 5-0 against Laos in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup last March. Meanwhile, Hai Long continues to be trusted by coach Kim Sang-sik in the right wing forward position.
This will be one of the two main strikers of the Vietnam team in this match, alongside Nguyen Van Vi in the left forward position.
Coach Kim Sang Sik's only notable change in this match was the first appearance of French-Vietnamese player Cao Pendant Quang Vinh at left back.
