Temporarily detain chief accountant and treasurer of Central College of Industry and Trade

The Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police has just issued a decision to prosecute and order the temporary detention of Nguyen Thi Hong Nguyen (born in 1976), chief accountant, and Nguyen Thi Huyen (born in 1985), treasurer of the Central College of Industry and Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade) for violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences.

According to the initial investigation, from 2018-2024, in their roles as chief accountant and treasurer, Nguyen and Huyen colluded to omit many sources of revenue from services and other career activities of the school from the financial accounting books, with a total amount of nearly 5.5 billion VND.

Of which, more than 1.5 billion VND was used against the law, mostly for sending envelopes to inspectors, receiving guests, visiting, and giving New Year greetings... with more than 1.1 billion VND.

According to the investigation agency, Nguyen and Huyen's actions violated the provisions of the Law on Accounting, the Law on VocationalEducation , and the Law on Value Added Tax, and constituted the crime of violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences under Clause 3, Article 221 of the Penal Code.

The case is under further investigation and handling according to the law.
