Belkin, a trusted accessory brand, has issued a recall for some models of backup batteries and iPhone charging docks after discovering a faulty lithium-ion battery that could lead to fire or explosion. The decision was made after the company received many reports of batteries overheating.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), this recall affects two models of BoostCharge 20K USB-C PD power banks (codes BPB002 and PB0003) and Auto-Tracking Stand Pro for iPhone (code code MMA008). Belkin said the battery components inside these devices can overheat under certain conditions, posing a safety risk.

In the US market, about 83,500 products are subject to recall, along with another 2,385 products in Canada. The devices were sold between August 2020 and August 2025. Belkin said it has received a total of 15 reports of overheating globally, including two cases of minor burns and one fire in the US. Related property damage is estimated at $37,765 .

Users can check their product by looking at the model number printed on the bottom of the device. If the device is listed as affected, Belkin recommends stopping use and visiting the company's recall page to submit the model number, serial number, and proof of purchase.

Customers with a receipt will receive a full refund; customers without a receipt will receive a refund of the purchase price or a purchase credit. Belkin notes that defective products should be taken to a certified lithium-ion recycling facility and not placed in the regular trash, as this can increase the risk of fire or explosion.

This isn’t the first time Belkin has faced battery and charging issues. Last year, the company recalled its BoostCharge Pro wireless power bank for Apple Watch (model BPD005) over similar concerns.

Belkin isn't the only power bank brand in trouble. Earlier this year, Anker recalled more than a million of its 10,000 mAh PowerCore power banks, followed by five more models, bringing the total number of power banks recalled in the US to nearly half a million.

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), since 2020, more than 17 backup battery models from Belkin, Anker, Baseus and SnapWireless have been recalled.

With such large capacities and the construction of miniature energy storage systems, even reputable manufacturers can have quality control failures. Belkin’s latest recall is a reminder that brand trust does not mean absolute safety and users need to be cautious when using energy storage devices.
