U23 Indonesia lost easily to U23 Mali.

In preparation for the 33rd SEA Games, the young team "Garuda" set high ambitions when inviting Mali for a friendly match. However, the difference in level between the two teams was soon shown when U23 Mali opened the score in the 5th minute. By the 34th minute, the away team increased the score to 2-0.

Coach Indra Sjafri then made many adjustments, helping Indonesia play better after the break, with high pressing and clear attacking intentions. However, U23 Mali was still on another level. In the 90+1 minute, the African representative sealed a 3-0 victory.

This defeat extended the bad results of U23 Indonesia in the past half year despite having many naturalized players such as Ivar Jenner, Rafael Struick, Mauro Zijlstra, Jens Raven, Dion Markx. Since the final of the U23 Southeast Asia tournament in July, U23 Indonesia has only won 1 match against Macau in the Asian qualifying round. The rest of the matches, they have drawn and lost all 5 recent matches.

This is an alarming signal for Indonesia ahead of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. The Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) has placed great faith in the U23 Indonesia team and wants to successfully defend the gold medal in men's football, thereby calming public opinion after a disappointing World Cup campaign.

In men's football at the 33rd SEA Games, U22 Vietnam is in Group B with Malaysia and Laos, while Group A includes Thailand, Cambodia and East Timor; and Indonesia is in Group C with Myanmar, the Philippines and Singapore.

U22 Vietnam's loss to Uzbekistan U22 Vietnam conceded an early goal in the 4th minute in a 0-1 loss to U22 Uzbekistan in the 2025 Panda Cup International Friendly Tournament that took place on the afternoon of November 15.
