According to a Bloomberg report, early on the morning of November 14, a long line of customers gathered outside the Apple store in SoHo, New York, to get early ownership of the “iPhone Pocket” - a limited edition iPhone canvas bag priced at 150-230 USD (about 3.9-6 million VND).
The product is the result of a collaboration between Apple and Issey Miyake, the Japanese fashion brand best known for designing the iconic black turtleneck worn by the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
Issey Miyake also has a dedicated fan base, which explains why hundreds of people lined up, treating the launch event like a limited-edition sale for big-name brands like Supreme or Bape .

“The design is so cool because it’s from Issey Miyake. As a designer, I really love it. When I heard it was sold out, it made me want to own it,” said Lee Aizner, a 26-year-old womenswear designer in New York.
Aizner said the bag sold out just hours after going on sale.
The iPhone Pocket comes in two sizes: short ( $150 ) and long ( $230 ). It comes in a variety of colors and is 3D woven to fit all iPhone models.
The pouch is stretchy, allowing users to store small items like AirPods, although adding more stuffing can make the appearance less aesthetically pleasing. In terms of structure and size, the product has many similarities to a karate belt and can be worn in a variety of ways, including across the body, tied to a bag, or held in the hand.

Apple’s website lists only 10 retail locations worldwide that will carry the product, with the SoHo store being the only one in the US. Other locations include major cities like London, Milan, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Paris. The iPhone Pocket is also available online, but was reported “sold out” as of the morning of November 14.
Owen Sanders, 29, was one of the lucky customers who bought the last short pink iPhone Pocket at the SoHo store as a gift for his wife. "My wife is a fan of designer Issey Miyake," Sanders said.
Explaining the significance of the brand, he added: “Every time someone wears a black turtleneck, people say, ‘You look like Steve Jobs.’ That’s because of Miyake, and it’s a very meaningful detail.”
Apple is notorious for offering controversial and overpriced accessories, from $19 cleaning cloths to $999 monitor stands.

The company has recently shown interest in the idea of users "wearing" their phones. In September, Apple introduced an accessory that turns the iPhone into a crossbody bag. The iPhone Pocket also recalls a product Apple sold more than 20 years ago, called the iPod Pocket , which cost $29 .
The announcement of the iPhone Pocket was met with mixed reactions on social media. Many comments on Reddit called the product “useless.” Many also mocked the launch event. One user commented: “I thought this was a joke,” while another asked: “Is it April Fools’ Day?”
But Issey Miyake fans have a different take. Michael Josh, a content creator who wore a blue Issey Miyake pleated suit to the event and has bought multiple iPhone Pockets, said some people might not understand the product.
"These accessories are like owning a piece of art or a collectible fashion item, not everyone understands," he said.
