The first Lai Chau City Culture, Sports and Tourism Week in 2023 attracted more than 1,600 artisans, actors, athletes from communes, wards, agencies, units, departments and Nung Nang commune to participate.
Coming to the Week, visitors and people were able to immerse themselves in the beautiful natural scenery, explore ethnic sports, folk games, cultural exchanges, learn about traditional dishes of ethnic minorities; learn about customs, habits, and cultural life of the city's ethnic people expressed through traditional cultural spaces.
In particular, this year's Culture - Sports and Tourism Week has many innovations in both content and form, including 24 activities. Typical examples include: conquering Lao Ty Phung mountain peak with nearly 500 athletes participating; a contest for fat, healthy and beautiful buffaloes with over 30 buffalo owners; a street carnival attracting 700 artisans and actors; organizing competitions for dishes with strong national identity, such as: making men men, cooking pho, thang co, cultural space; sports activities such as volleyball, crossbow shooting, tug of war... The week has left many deep impressions in the hearts of the people and tourists.
The success of the first Lai Chau City Culture - Sports and Tourism Week in 2023 contributed to raising awareness and responsibility of authorities at all levels and ethnic people in preserving, maintaining and promoting fine traditional cultural identities and natural resources for tourism development.
At the same time, it is an opportunity to introduce and promote unique cultural values and types of community tourism, sports, and typical agricultural products to attract businesses to research, learn and invest in Lai Chau city.
At the end of the week, the Organizing Committee awarded 13 A prizes, 14 B prizes, 9 C prizes; 45 first prizes, 52 second prizes and nearly 100 third prizes, over 50 consolation prizes, 10 secondary prizes, 100 rewards to groups and individuals with high achievements. In which, the first prize for the whole group belonged to Tan Phong ward. Quyet Tien and Doan Ket ward delegations won second prizes; Dong Phong ward delegations and Sung Phai commune delegations won third prizes; Quyet Thang ward delegations and San Thang commune delegations won consolation prizes.
