(ABO) From May 20, 2025, passenger and cargo transportation via Xuan Dong ferry terminal (also known as Lo Vam ferry terminal) connecting Song Binh commune and Xuan Dong commune, Cho Gao district, Tien Giang province will officially stop.
Xuan Dong ferry terminal officially stops operating from May 20, 2025. |
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Cho Gao district has issued an official notice to stop traffic through Xuan Dong ferry, ending its role as an important waterway serving people in the area over the past time.
According to the People's Committee of Cho Gao District, this decision was made based on many factors. The most important is after the Provincial Road 864 Project Phase 1 from National Highway 50 to Provincial Road 877B and Cho Gao Bridge was opened to traffic on April 24, 2025. The new bridge across the Vam Ky Hon area has created a convenient road route, directly connecting My Tho City with Cho Gao District (Xuan Dong Commune area).
The establishment of Cho Gao Bridge has significantly reduced the demand for travel and transportation via Xuan Dong ferry terminal. Currently, the number of passengers and goods using this ferry terminal is very low, and its operation is no longer effective. In addition, Van Binh An Company Limited, the operator of Xuan Dong ferry terminal, has also sent a document requesting to terminate the ferry terminal's operations.
Faced with the above situation, the People's Committee of Cho Gao district has agreed to suspend river transport activities at Xuan Dong ferry terminal (located in Song Binh and Xuan Dong communes, Cho Gao district) from May 20, 2025.
This notice is intended to inform organizations and individuals who need to travel through the Xuan Dong ferry area and proactively adjust their travel routes to more convenient road routes, especially the Cho Gao bridge that has just been put into use.
