Thus, from November 3, 2025, patients with psoriasis will be supported by the Health Insurance Fund to cover 50% of the cost when treated with the biological drug Secukinumab. This is good news for patients because it will open a new phase in the treatment of psoriasis. Thereby contributing to improving the quality of life, reducing the financial burden for patients and their families.
Biological drugs are an effective treatment for many diseases, especially in dermatology, including psoriasis. Therefore, doctors encourage patients with psoriasis, especially those with severe cases, to proactively visit a specialist for advice and appropriate treatment regimens.
Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease, accounting for 2-3% of the population, causing a significant impact on the quality of life of the patient. Currently, there is no complete cure, so psoriasis management is essential in the treatment strategy. The exact cause of psoriasis is still unknown. However, there are 3 factors that cause psoriasis: environment (skin trauma, mental stress, excessive exposure to sunlight, the effects of surgery, use of certain drugs, skin infections), genetics and individual immunity.
Psoriasis is not simply a skin disease but a chronic systemic inflammatory disease, whole body inflammation, affecting other organs in the body. Many patients with severe psoriasis may have painful and swollen joints, nail damage, metabolic disorders, high blood lipids, high risk of diabetes, mental disorders due to anxiety, prolonged stress.
There are many different types of psoriasis, each with its own unique symptoms. The most common is plaque psoriasis. A person can have one or more types of psoriasis at the same time or at different times.
The most obvious manifestation of psoriasis is red patches. The patches are covered with flaky, soft, painless scales. The lesions are often located in areas of pressure or friction such as elbows, knees, injured areas or burns, scars, and scratches.
