Central Highlands General Hospital calls on people to donate platelets to save patients

The Central Highlands General Hospital has just sent a letter calling on people to donate platelets to promptly help patients in critical condition due to platelet deficiency.

In the appeal letter, Director of the Central Highlands General Hospital Nguyen Dang Giap shared that blood is a special and precious medicine that can only be donated from kind hearts; the safest source of blood to save lives is blood from healthy people who donate blood voluntarily and without profit.

With the message "Every drop of blood given, a life remains", each person will be an ambassador of kindness, sharing their blood to help patients so they have a chance to live or prolong their life.

Previously, the Central Highlands General Hospital also launched a voluntary blood donation movement in 2025 among all union members, employees and youth union members of the unit to contribute to overcoming the serious blood shortage in emergency and treatment of patients at the hospital, maintaining blood supply to serve the "Inter-hospital Red Alert" process.

It is known that since the beginning of July, the Provincial Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center has only received about 30-40 units of blood per day. The blood shortage is very serious because the received blood source is not enough to serve the emergency and treatment needs.

The objective reason leading to this situation is that blood donation programs at the grassroots level are being interrupted, as at the commune level there are currently no specialized staff of the Red Cross to carry out these tasks.
