Thanks to quick and brave actions, 13-year-old American boy Gabriel Klimis escaped from a ferocious crocodile even though it had one of his legs firmly bitten.
On June 20, Klimis and his brothers went swimming at Howell Creek in Winter Springs, Florida. When he jumped into the water, he discovered that his left leg was in the mouth of an alligator.
"When I realized my leg was in the crocodile's mouth, I knew there was no way I could get out," the boy told the Today show. However, Klimis did not give up and immediately took action, attacking the crocodile to find a way to escape.

The 13-year-old boy used his hand to hit the crocodile's head hard, hoping to pull his leg out of its mouth. Unexpectedly, Klimis's action was effective. The crocodile suddenly let go of the boy's leg. Klimis quickly swam to shore, went to a nearby house to inform his mother and call for help.
In a recording of the 911 call, Klimis calmly told the operator that he had been bitten on his right hip by an alligator but was "okay," "able to walk" and stand on his right leg.
Klimis was then taken to hospital and had his wound stitched and bandaged by doctors.
According to Today, a nearly 2.5m long crocodile in the same area where Klimis was injured was captured just a few days later. Many people believe that this is the crocodile that attacked Klimis.
