(Baoquangngai.vn)- This is the third year of the Godmother program. Nearly 800 orphans have been supported, cared for, and raised by provincial women's associations at all levels, agencies, units, and philanthropists with a total amount of more than 4 billion VND.
On the morning of October 16, the Provincial Women's Union held a conference to commend, exchange and share experiences of the "Godmother" Program and award prizes for the 2024 Writing Competition to express gratitude to godparents. Attending the conference were Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan; representatives of relevant departments, branches, agencies and units.
The “Godmother” program was launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union in October 2021 to support, care for, and nurture orphans affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and orphans in difficult circumstances, helping them have more support in their journey to the future.
After 3 years of responding to and implementing the program, the provincial women's associations at all levels, along with agencies, units, and philanthropists, have supported, cared for, and raised 788 orphans, with a total amount of more than 4 billion VND. Providing material support and practical gifts to help them confidently go to school and stabilize their lives. Regularly visiting, caring for, encouraging, guiding them in their studies, teaching them life skills, how to take care of themselves, providing legal advice, and career guidance for them.
Women's associations at all levels in the province are always enthusiastic, innovating the content and form of organizing the "Godmother" program to bring practical results. Reviewing and selecting the right orphans. Connecting and arranging units and individuals to receive sponsorship in a scientific and appropriate manner. Expanding and spreading to connect more units, organizations and individuals to join. Organizing a contest to write words of gratitude to godparents. In 2024 alone, the contest attracted 237 entries from orphans who were sponsored in the whole province.
The conference listened to the thoughts, wishes and sharing of the godparents and the children receiving support to have a realistic and objective view of the implementation of the "Godmother" Program in the province.

At the program, the Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize of the Writing Contest to express gratitude to the godparents to Nguyen Van Phi, a student of class 8C, Nghia Ky Secondary School (Tu Nghia); awarded 2 Second Prizes; 3 Third Prizes; 7 Encouragement Prizes; commended and rewarded 20 groups and 15 individuals who have been outstanding in implementing the "Godmother" Program. At the same time, VNPT Quang Ngai also accepted to sponsor Nguyen Tien Dat (12 years old), in Dien Nien village, Tinh Son commune (Son Tinh) until he is 18 years old, with a total amount of 36 million VND.

On this occasion, the Provincial Women's Union also launched and signed a commitment with representatives of the Women's Union at all levels in the province to implement the "Godmother" program, with each union facility sponsoring at least 1 orphan in 2025.
