According to Decision No. 2804/QD-BQP dated June 15, 2025 of the Minister of National Defense, the entire organization, staffing, equipment and tasks of the Yen Bai Provincial Military Command were transferred in their original state to the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command.

Talking to us, Colonel Hoang Van Toan, Deputy Political Commissar of Lao Cai Provincial Military Command, said: Thanks to careful, thoughtful and comprehensive preparation, the handover and acceptance were carried out urgently, scientifically and in accordance with regulations, and were recognized and commended by the Party Committee, the Command of Military Region 2 and the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Lao Cai Province. This is the basis and favorable premise for the new Lao Cai Provincial Military Command to soon stabilize its organization, staffing and operate effectively.

Immediately after the merger, the Party Committee and the new Lao Cai Provincial Military Command focused on leading and directing the synchronous and comprehensive implementation of solutions, striving to successfully complete all tasks assigned by the Party Committee, Military Region 2 Command, Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee.

In implementing the policy of merging and reorganizing the local armed forces, the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command have clearly demonstrated the spirit of solidarity and unity. After the merger, there are still many tasks to be implemented with many difficulties to overcome. The Lao Cai Provincial Military Command determined that first of all, it must focus on building a united collective, because the strength of solidarity and collective spirit are the most important factors for the unit to overcome difficulties and challenges and complete its tasks well.

Thoroughly grasping the policy of merging the province, merging the provincial military command, reorganizing the provincial Border Guard command into the Border Guard command under the provincial military command and dissolving the district-level military command, organizing regional defense commands under the provincial military command is a strategic step to meet the requirements of the tasks in the new period; immediately after the merger and reorganization, with the spirit of urgency, positivity, proactiveness, solidarity and high responsibility, the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command has determined to continuously improve the effectiveness of military and defense work and the activities of the local armed forces, continuing to affirm its core role in building the all-people national defense, the all-people national defense posture associated with the people's security posture, contributing to firmly protecting independence, territorial sovereignty and maintaining political security in the area.

The Party Committee and the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command paid special attention to the work of perfecting the organization, management and command apparatus. According to the policy of the Ministry of National Defense, the new Lao Cai Provincial Military Command under Military Region 2 was organized with 5 regional defense command boards and the Provincial Border Guard Command Board; key cadres of the Provincial Military Command and its affiliated agencies and units were quickly perfected, ensuring quantity and quality.

At the same time, the Provincial Military Command advised the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee to complete 100% of the positions of commanders of the Military Commands of communes and wards to meet the requirements of local defense and military tasks in a larger area. The timely appointment of qualified, capable and experienced cadres has helped the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command quickly stabilize its ideology and organization, promptly deploy tasks, and avoid interruptions.

In the past two months, the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command has organized many working groups to review, inspect and guide the implementation of tasks such as: Training, combat readiness; helping people overcome the consequences of natural disasters; building militia and self-defense forces, managing reserve forces; mass mobilization work; defense foreign affairs activities... to ensure synchronization and smoothness.

In particular, the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command and the regional defense command, the Provincial Border Guard Command, and the commune-level Military Command have proactively coordinated closely with the police force to ensure political security, order, and social safety in the area, especially during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. The work of the Army's rear, policies for retired officers, professional soldiers, demobilized soldiers, and families with meritorious services to the revolution continue to be of interest to the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command, well implemented and ensured, contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the provincial armed forces in particular and the Army in general...
