Ministry of National Defense inspects and directs response to storm No. 13 in Quang Ngai

As storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) is approaching the mainland and is forecast to make landfall in the South Central region on the evening of November 6, a working delegation from the Ministry of National Defense led by Senior Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, arrived in Quang Ngai province to inspect storm response work.

At the checkpoints at My A Port, Tra Cau Ward; Pho Minh Commune People's Committee Headquarters (old) where people were evacuated to take shelter from the storm in Duc Pho Ward; the landslide point at Pho Vinh beach, Duc Pho Ward... Senior Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son directly listened to the situation report, inspected the actual evacuation plan, reinforced houses, ensured the safety of warehouses, barracks and communication systems. The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army highly appreciated the proactive, urgent and resolute spirit of the local Party Committee, authorities, armed forces and people in the area in implementing storm prevention and control measures.

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff emphasized that this is a strong, fast-moving, and complex storm, so we must absolutely not be subjective or negligent. Forces must strictly maintain duty and combat readiness, review the "four on-site" plan, ensure smooth communication, and be ready to mobilize for rescue when situations arise.

Major General Hua Van Tuong, Deputy Commander of Military Region 5, said: "Implementing the direction of the Party Committee Standing Committee and the Military Region Command, the armed forces units of Military Region 5, especially the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command, have synchronously deployed response plans, arranged forces and vehicles in key areas, and are ready to support people in emergency situations."

Currently, the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command has mobilized thousands of officers and soldiers along with motor vehicles, rescue boats, information and logistics equipment on site, closely coordinating with the police and local authorities to evacuate people from dangerous areas, reinforce key projects, and protect the lives and property of the State and people.

Faced with the urgent developments of storm No. 13, all levels, sectors and people in the province are taking synchronous, urgent and drastic actions. Military, police and militia forces are always on duty 24/7, ready to respond and not be caught off guard when the storm makes landfall.

The inspection and direct guidance of the Ministry of National Defense delegation demonstrated the close attention of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and Military Region 5 to natural disaster prevention and control work, contributing to strengthening the trust and solidarity between the armed forces and local people, and the determination to ensure absolute safety of people, property and infrastructure when storm No. 13 makes landfall.
