Ministry of Defense donates 1 billion VND to the Central Fund 'For the Poor'

On the morning of December 5, in Hanoi, Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee received 1 billion VND from the Ministry of National Defense to support the Central "For the Poor" Fund.

Speaking at the reception ceremony, Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, said that although the donation amount is not large, it is the heart of the officers and soldiers in the entire army with the desire to join hands with the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and people to contribute to supporting the poor.

Informing the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien, Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh said that on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, from the beginning of 2024, implementing the Ministry of National Defense's policy of building 8,000 comrade houses and Great Unity houses, the entire army has strived to exceed the target. According to statistics, as of December 4, the entire army has built more than 15,000 comrade houses and Great Unity houses. In addition, officers and soldiers throughout the army have not been afraid of danger and difficulties, participating in rescue and relief of people in natural disasters and floods.

Emphasizing that the Army is always devoted to the people, Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh said that in order for the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" to continue to spread widely, the Vietnam People's Army will continue to call on officers and soldiers throughout the army to actively support the "For the poor" Fund in the coming time.

On behalf of the Party Delegation, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and the Central Mobilization Committee for the "For the Poor" Fund, Chairman Do Van Chien expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army for their noble gestures and support of resources for the "For the Poor" Fund.

According to Chairman Do Van Chien, along with the support resources of the people nationwide, the “For the Poor” Fund has been focusing on allocating resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, striving to complete this important goal by 2025. Along with that, the resources of the “For the Poor” Fund are also used to help the poor and people in difficult circumstances during the Lunar New Year through visits and donations by Party and State leaders in localities.

“We also thank the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and local military agencies at all levels for their efforts in responding to the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the past time,” Chairman Do Van Chien emphasized.

Also according to Chairman Do Van Chien, in the face of difficulties faced by poor cancer patients, people undergoing dialysis, disabled children or patients in difficult circumstances who have to undergo long-term treatment... The Central "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee will allocate a portion of the budget to support these patients, helping each person have more resources to support during the treatment process and have more motivation to soon overcome difficulties and defeat the disease.

Chairman Do Van Chien pledged that the resources to support the “For the Poor” Fund will be allocated promptly by the Central Mobilization Committee, in accordance with the law, to support the poor and those in difficult circumstances; at the same time, he hopes to continue to receive support from the Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army to help the poor alleviate their difficulties in life.
