Minister of Industry and Trade accompanies Prime Minister to inspect damage recovery from storm No. 3 in Quang Ninh

To overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3, reporting to the Government and Prime Minister , Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said:

Firstly , at 7:00 a.m. this morning (September 8, 2024) , the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a meeting, quickly assessed the situation and agreed on a solution. Immediately after that, the Ministry promptly sent working delegations of the Ministry's functional agencies and the leaders of Vietnam Electricity Group to Quang Ninh and Hai Phong to directly direct the implementation of overcoming the consequences caused by storm No. 3.

Second , focus on directing power sector units to urgently fix problems, restore the damaged power system as quickly as possible, and have technical backup plans to maintain the stability of the power dispatch system when problems occur; Prioritize power supply to industrial parks, manufacturing enterprises, and provide materials to support people in repairing houses and production facilities; Try to fix the problems of the 500, 220, 110 kV lines and transformer stations early this afternoon to be ready to supply power again.

“We have determined that the storm circulation will affect the Northwestern and Northeastern provinces, so power plants, especially hydropower plants, which supply large amounts of electricity to the North, are likely to be affected, so we need to be ready to handle any incidents that may occur,” Minister Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized.

"Along with that, the viewpoint of the Ministry of Industry and Trade is to direct efforts to overcome incidents of power lines and transformer stations while ensuring safe use of electricity, so the provision of information and guidance to production facilities and people are guaranteed," Minister Nguyen Hong Dien clearly stated.

Third , deploy a plan to mobilize vehicles, materials, equipment, and human resources in localities not or less affected by storm No. 3 to support localities with heavy damage to repair damaged power grids;

Fourth , direct the operation of hydroelectric reservoirs according to procedures, pay attention to flood prevention due to storm circulation, contributing to reducing downstream floods. Important reservoirs such as Hoa Binh and Thac Ba increase spillway discharge; increase power generation to lower reservoir water levels to reserve capacity to receive floods due to storm circulation;

Fifth , direct all units in the industry to prepare response plans in case of floods caused by storm circulation, especially when some areas may be cut off and isolated by floods;

Sixth , direct the Departments of Industry and Trade to closely monitor developments in the commodity market, direct businesses to ensure the supply of gasoline and essential goods to serve the people; direct key businesses to fully supply goods to serve production and people's lives;

Seventh , direct social media work, provide timely and complete information on the situation of ensuring the supply of electricity, gasoline, and essential goods to stabilize the market.
