Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just signed Decision No. 409/QD-TTg changing the members of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation.
According to the decision, Ms. Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Health , will replace Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien as Head of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation.

Ms. Bui Thi Hoa, President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, was appointed as Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, replacing Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu.
Mr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, replaced Mr. Nguyen Viet Tien as Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation.
The National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation is responsible for planning and directing the implementation of voluntary blood donation to ensure blood for the needs of treatment and care of patients nationwide; proposing and participating in the development of policies on voluntary blood donation; organizing propaganda to mobilize people to participate in voluntary blood donation; organizing national and regional activities on voluntary blood donation; summarizing, evaluating, exchanging experiences, and updating information on voluntary blood donation...
Over the past years, blood donation activities in our country have received the attention of leaders at all levels, the effective participation of many agencies and units, and have become a regular activity of tens of thousands of people across the country.

In 2022, the whole country mobilized and received more than 1.4 million units of blood; the voluntary blood donation rate reached 99%; the blood donation rate of the population reached nearly 1.5%. 2023 is also the year with the largest number of localities nationwide registering to participate in the organization with 48 provinces and cities.
The organizers aim to collect at least 35,000 units of blood on the main festival day and at least 85,000 units of blood on the response days; the entire program will reach at least 120,000 units of blood; mobilize at least 8,000 volunteers in localities who are Red Cross youth and volunteers to participate in Red Journey activities and events.
