Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated the cooperation between Vietnam and the EU in particular and the EU-ASEAN relationship in general; at the same time, he emphasized that the cooperation between Vietnam and the EU has developed comprehensively in all fields, especially since the EVFTA took effect.

Currently, the EU has become Vietnam's fourth largest trading partner and third largest export market. In particular, investment from European enterprises in Vietnam has grown strongly in the fields of high technology, renewable energy, logistics, circular economy, manufacturing and processing industry...

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien assessed that in the context of rapidly changing world and regional economies, Vietnam and European businesses need to cooperate more closely and reliably, together building new and sustainable supply chains.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien informed that the Vietnamese Government has determined and oriented its development to become a high-income country by 2045, with green economy, digital economy, and circular economy as the main pillars; and is implementing three strategic breakthroughs: perfecting institutions, developing infrastructure, and developing high-quality human resources.

According to the Minister, this is a great opportunity that Vietnam wants to share with European partners - where there are green financial resources, advanced technology, superior management experience and the strongest commitment to sustainable development... to thereby promote more substantive and extensive cooperation in the Vietnam - EU relationship.

The Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are determined to maintain macroeconomic stability, continue to improve the investment and business environment, and perfect institutions towards transparency, stability, and compliance with international commitments; at the same time, welcome and encourage European enterprises to continue expanding their long-term investment, production, and business activities in Vietnam.

In an open and constructive atmosphere, the two sides discussed a number of cooperation orientations in the coming time, focusing on maintaining bilateral trade growth momentum; expanding high-quality investment projects; strengthening supply chain linkages; promoting cooperation in areas related to sustainable development, green transformation and digital transformation; continuing to improve mechanisms and policies, creating more favorable conditions for businesses of both sides.

Representing the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC), Mr. Jens Rubbert - Chairman of the Council shared that EU-ABC wishes to continue to accompany Vietnam and always considers Vietnam as a key partner in ASEAN. In particular, the EVFTA Agreement has been and is a driving force to promote Vietnam - EU trade.

Since the EVFTA took effect, Vietnam's export turnover to the EU has increased by an average of 12-15% per year. This figure shows that there is still a lot of room for cooperation between the two sides; the EU-ASEAN Business Council wishes to expand business and investment cooperation in Vietnam even more.

During the working session, representatives of EU-ABC and EuroCham Vietnam expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the Vietnamese Government in improving the business environment, implementing integration commitments; and the leading role of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in industrial, trade and energy cooperation issues.

The EU-ABC representative affirmed that the European business community considers Vietnam an important destination in its development strategy in the region, and wishes to continue to strengthen policy dialogue with relevant Vietnamese agencies.

At the end of the working session, the two sides agreed to continue to maintain regular exchange and dialogue channels at both leadership and technical levels, promptly share information, remove obstacles, and promote cooperation, investment, and trade opportunities between Vietnam and the European Union to become increasingly substantive, effective, and sustainable.
