Ministry of Health "blows the whistle" on many omega products, joint supplements... sold on Lazada, Shopee

(Dan Tri) - According to the Food Safety Department, through inspection, many products such as omega, glucosamine, hormone supplements... sold on commercial floors have not been granted a Certificate of Registration of Declaration.

On May 27, the Department of Food Safety ( Ministry of Health ) announced that it had issued an official dispatch requesting Shopee Company Limited and Lazada Vietnam E-commerce Company Limited to manage the business of functional foods in the e-commerce environment.

According to this agency, through reviewing the implementation of regulations on registration of declarations and self-declarations, production and trading of functional foods, the Food Safety Department discovered that a number of functional food products belonging to the group of health protection foods being sold on these trading floors have not been granted declarations.

These products include: Omega 3-6-9 1600mg; Natto Kinase 4000fu; Estroven - Complete Multi-Symptom; Kirkland Glucosamine 1500mg & Chondroitin 1200mg; Glucosamine 1500mg With MSM 1500mg.

According to the Food Safety Department, these products are being advertised and sold on e-commerce platforms without being granted a Certificate of Product Declaration Registration.

To ensure the health and rights of users, and ensure that the production and trading of functional foods comply with the provisions of law, the Food Safety Department requests Lazada E-commerce Company Limited and Shopee Vietnam Company Limited to urgently review the business and electronic transactions of functional food products.

The Food Safety Department recommends that these two units only trade in functional food products that have been granted a Certificate of Product Declaration Registration by a competent state management agency or have been announced on the Food Safety Data Information System according to regulations.

At the same time, these two units are required to immediately stop doing business, remove information about the above products, and report the results in writing to the Department of Food Safety - Ministry of Health before May 30.
