Cam Tu was born in 1999 in Ben Tre (now Vinh Long province), and became a stuntwoman by chance. "I find this job quite "cool", I can do difficult, dangerous scenes that many people can't do", Cam Tu said.
She said that in the early days, when she saw people going to film, she also wanted to experience this job, so she did not miss a single practice session. However, because she was a "newbie", Cam Tu could not avoid accidents. She confided: "Maybe because I am strong, I find bruises or sprained ankles normal. I am lucky because I have not had any serious injuries."
In six years of working, Cam Tu has experienced many scenes such as being burned, having a car accident, falling down... She said that after finishing filming a project, she got burned, but was still willing to continue working to keep up with the crew's schedule. According to the actress, when pursuing the career of a stuntwoman, she was determined to get used to injuries and dangers. Therefore, Cam Tu did not share much with her family about her work to avoid worrying them. As for her friends, they only saw the "cool" scenes she posted, but did not know that they were exchanged for sweat, courage...
EXPANDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR FEMALE CASCADEUR
The job of a stuntman not only helps Cam Tu satisfy her passion for filming scenes, but also provides her with a source of income to cover her living expenses. Film projects not only focus on fighting scenes, but also on dramatic and thrilling scenes in Mai, Kinh Kaleidoscope... are also of interest. However, along with the opportunity, Cam Tu is also aware that in addition to maintaining the best condition when on set, she needs to cultivate and practice to be able to meet the requirements of the director as well as the expectations of the audience.
Cam Tu on set
"Audiences are now more careful when watching movies. That requires me to improve by practicing hard. But to be honest, filming experience also plays a part. For example, when it comes to scenes of falling off a motorbike, I have to plan ahead to ensure my own safety. So I have to practice and work in real life to gain experience," she shared.
Compared to men, female stuntmen are often at a disadvantage in terms of health and flexibility. However, Cam Tu finds that fortunately, opportunities for female stuntmen are expanding. "In the past, women would receive fewer invitations to act in movies because action and gangster movies were mostly male. But now movies focus on dramatic elements, so female stuntmen have more opportunities, thanks to which their income has also improved," she confided.
Facing many difficulties and being constantly "bruised" on set, Cam Tu said she has no intention of giving up. Instead, the actress is still persistent in her career because she believes this is her passion and strength. Cam Tu only hopes to develop further in her career and be given the opportunity to become an action actress in the future. ( continued )
