Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Tung Commune ( Quang Tri ), Mr. Vo Duc Dien, said the dolphin appeared at around 3:00 p.m. on July 20, right at the time when many people and tourists were swimming in the sea.
"The fish swam very close to shore and were friendly, so some people came closer to play with them. The scene surprised and delighted many people," said Mr. Dien.
According to Mr. Dien, about 30 minutes later, the dolphin actively swam back out to sea. By late afternoon, it still had not returned, indicating that the dolphin's health was normal.
"Maybe due to the weather, storm number 3 Wipha, the fish swam closer to shore than usual," he said.
According to the leader of Cua Tung commune, dolphins swimming close to the shore have been recorded before but are very rare. This appearance not only created surprise but also brought an interesting experience to the locals and tourists present at the beach.
Cua Tung Beach was once known as the "queen of beaches" in the Central region.
The name comes from the wild beauty, fine white sand, clear blue water and gentle waves, very suitable for swimming and relaxing at Cua Tung beach.
During the French period, Cua Tung was a famous resort, attracting many officials, intellectuals and tourists.
