Ca Mau has not elected a provincial People's Committee chairman yet.

Also at this session, the People's Council of Ca Mau province announced that Mr. Duong Huynh Khai, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Ca Mau province, will retire to receive social insurance benefits from November 1, 2024.

The 15th session of the Provincial People's Council also considered and decided on a number of important contents under its authority, including 9 draft resolutions in the fields of law, economy and budget.

In which, there is a Resolution on the policy of establishing Tac Van ward in Ca Mau city on the basis of the current natural area of 5.59km2 and population of 14,180 people of Tac Van commune.

However, through discussion at the meeting, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Ca Mau province Nguyen Tien Hai proposed to stop passing the Resolution to establish Tac Van ward.

The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Ca Mau province requested the Provincial People's Committee to direct relevant agencies and Ca Mau city to continue completing the dossier. If qualified, it will be submitted to the People's Council at the next sessions.

Previously, on July 12, Mr. Huynh Quoc Viet, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, was mobilized and assigned by the Central Government to be Deputy Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee.

On September 12, the Secretariat appointed Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission, to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee currently has two Deputy Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien and Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai (elected at the beginning of the term).

Thus, after nearly three months, from the day Mr. Huynh Quoc Viet, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province was transferred to become Deputy Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee (July 12) until October 9, Ca Mau province still lacked the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
