Universities considering high school transcripts combined with IELTS in 2025

Schools that combine high school transcripts with IELTS mainly use the scores of 3 years of high school and require an IELTS score of 5.0 or higher.

Some universities consider this certificate score higher, such as: Foreign Trade University, Academy of Journalism and Communication require a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, while Diplomatic Academy considers candidates with IELTS from 6.0 or higher.

In 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training will abolish the early admission method. Thus, the admission method based on high school transcripts combined with IELTS will also be considered at the same time as other methods, that is, after candidates know their high school graduation exam scores.

List of universities considering high school transcripts combined with IELTS in 2025 as follows:

Foreign Trade University	The school considers admission based on a combination of international language certificates and 3-year high school transcripts. Specific conditions vary for each group of candidates, but some general requirements are a minimum IELTS score of 6.5. This method applies to 3 groups of candidates, including: participating in national science and technology competitions for excellent students; winning third prize or higher in city-level excellent student competitions; and being students of specialized schools.
Diplomatic Academy	The Academy considers candidates with an average score of 8 or higher for 6 semesters and an IELTS certificate of 6.0 or higher.
University of Commerce	The school considers admission by combining international language certificates with the academic scores of Math and other subjects in the group other than Foreign Language. In which, the score of each subject is determined as the average score of 3 years of high school. This method only considers admission for international career-oriented programs, international dual degree programs, and advanced programs.
Hanoi University of Industry	The school considers admission based on international certificate scores combined with the total score of 3 years of high school transcripts of subjects according to the admission combination.
Academy of Journalism and Communication	The Academy considers candidates with an international English certificate equivalent to IELTS 6.5 or higher, a minimum SAT certificate of 1200/1600, an average score of 7 or higher for 3 years of high school, and good conduct in high school.
University of Economics, Vietnam National University, Hanoi	The school considers international English certificates combined with academic records.
University of Science and Technology of Hanoi	The school considers admission by combining academic records with interviews of candidates whose average grade 11 and 12 scores in 3 of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology, and English are from 8.8 or higher. For Pharmacy, in addition to the above average score, candidates need an IELTS certificate of 5.0 or higher.
Hanoi University of Civil Engineering	The school considers transcripts for all majors and majors except for majors/majors that consider Fine Arts. The school considers based on the average score of 3 years of high school of the subjects in the corresponding admission group. Candidates with an international English language certificate equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or higher can use it to replace the English subject in the admission group.
Vietnam Women's Academy	The Academy considers combining academic records with international English certificates, in which the average score of 3 years of 2 subjects other than English in the Academy's admission group is expected to be 12 points or higher, excluding priority points. In addition, candidates need to have an international English certificate within the time limit with IELTS 5.0 or higher.
University of Electricity	The school considers admission based on the international English certificate combined with the results of the 3-year high school transcript of the remaining 2 subjects in the admission group. Candidates must satisfy 2 conditions at the same time: have an international English certificate IELTS from 5.0 or higher, and at the same time the converted IELTS certificate score and the remaining 2 subjects in the admission group must not be lower than 18 points.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Law	Subject 2: Candidates must have an international language certificate or the results of the US SAT exam. For English, candidates must have an IELTS score of 5.5 or higher or a TOEFL iBT score of 65 or higher. For French (Law), candidates must have a DELF certificate with a level B1 or higher or a TCF certificate with a score of 300 or higher/1 skill or higher. For Japanese (Law), candidates must have a JLPT certificate with a level N3 or higher. For candidates using the results of the US SAT exam, they must have a score of 1,150 or higher/1,600 points; or candidates must have an average total score of 6 high school semesters of 3 subjects in the group of subjects for the admission subject of 22.5 or higher.
University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City	Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics reserves a maximum of 4,000 admission quotas for 2025 based on high school transcripts. Admission scores are converted from 5 criteria, including 1 mandatory criterion and 4 non-mandatory criteria. The mandatory criterion is the average score of the subject combination registered for admission calculated according to grades 10, 11 and 12 from 6.5 or higher. The non-mandatory criterion is that students have an international English certificate with a valid term (as of the date of application submission) equivalent to IELTS from 6.0 or TOEFL iBT from 73 or higher; Students who won prizes (First, Second, Third) in the provincial and city-level (centrally affiliated) high school excellence exams in the subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, English, Literature, Informatics, History; Students who are awarded/titled (academic ranking) in grades 10, 11, 12 are excellent students, good students; Students of specialized/gifted high schools.
University of Finance and Marketing	Students with an international English IELTS score of 5.5 or higher (or equivalent international English certificate) or an English certificate of level 4/6 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam. In addition, admission is based on academic records based on subject combinations.
University of Information Technology	The school recruits directly according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; Excellent and talented candidates recommended by the high school principal who meet specific criteria such as good academic performance, good conduct, and outstanding achievements in study; Candidates on the list of 149 high schools that prioritize admission to Ho Chi Minh City National University (from 2026, priority will only be given to recruiting specialized/gifted students); Candidates who have won high prizes in prestigious exams (Informatics Olympiad, Road to Olympia, ICPC, SEA Games, ASIAD, ...); Candidates with prestigious international certificates (SAT, ACT, A level, IB) with satisfactory results.
