How to sign up for YouTube Premium in Vietnam

On April 12, Vietnamese users can experience watching videos on YouTube Premium and listening to music on YouTube Music Premium without being bothered by advertisements.

Currently, YouTube Premium is not open to all users, but will be opened in limited batches. Next week, Google will officially organize the launch of this feature in Vietnam.

YouTube Premium subscriptions

To sign up for YouTube Premium, users can do so from the website or their personal mobile device. On their computer, users access youtube.com/premium to choose a service package according to their personal needs. Each account will have a 1-month free trial of the service before paying for the monthly subscription.

In Vietnam, individual users will have to pay 79,000 VND/month, while the student package is 49,000 VND/month and the family package is 149,000 VND/month. All are excluding VAT. The family package can be shared with 5 other members, in addition to the group leader.

Thus, the maximum number of users in the family package is 6 at the same time, equivalent to a fee of nearly 24,900 VND/month/member. This is considered an attractive price for users to experience both ad-free video viewing and copyrighted music listening services.

What is special is that when purchasing this service package, customers can enjoy different prices if purchasing on different devices.

For iOS device users, Google charges 105,000 VND/month for individual users, while buying on YouTube's website costs only 79,000 VND for the same level of service. The reason is the commission that service providers have to pay to Apple.

To get the most reasonable price, users should buy a service package on the YouTube website or YouTube app on Android, instead of paying an additional 30,000 VND per month if buying on iOS.

Currently the service only allows payment by international debit card (Debit Card) or credit card (Credit Card), other forms of payment are not accepted.

After filling in card information (Debit or Credit), users can experience Premium package services right in Vietnam without using VPN (virtual private network) as before.

How to use YouTube Music Premium as a windowed application on your computer

YouTube Music Premium currently does not have a separate program for Windows or macOS. Users can still use this feature as a separate application window instead of having to run it in the browser.

To get started, premium account users go to music.youtube.com on the Chrome browser, then click on the 3 vertical dots icon (Menu) in the top right corner of the screen > select Install YouTube Music to have the program automatically download a separate window version of the program.

The system will display an "app version" of YouTube Music Premium as a separate window so as not to disturb the process of using the browser or other applications running in parallel on the computer.
