Lexus has quietly announced a special version of the LC 500: the Pinnacle Edition. Only 100 units, both coupe and convertible, will be sold in the Japanese market, with prices starting at 17,800,000 yen (about 3.151 billion VND). Lexus has confirmed that half of the Pinnacle Special Editions will be available to existing LC owners, while the other half will be available to the general public via a raffle. Interested customers will need to apply at their local Lexus dealership by August 7, and will be contacted directly by August 18 if they qualify.
While the design updates are mostly cosmetic, Lexus has given both the LC Pinnacle Edition coupe and convertible some unique touches. The coupe is available exclusively in a custom Oboro Silver paint, while the convertible is finished in Neutrino Gray. Both versions feature a newly developed Lexus Matte Coat paint finish, which is specially designed to “sweep away dirt.” Both versions ride on 21-inch black cast aluminum wheels. Other highlights continue inside. While white leather and cloth are the predominant colors on both models, the coupe’s cabin features black accents on the dashboard, doors, and shoulder rests, while the convertible gets a two-tone Saddle Tan color scheme.
Bespoke details such as the LC Limited Edition plaque mounted in front of the gearshift lever, carbon fibre door sills and embroidered dashboard are also included. However, Lexus has incorporated a few minor chassis tweaks, with hollow aluminium rear suspension components used to increase body rigidity. While the coupe is designed to deliver a sharper, more responsive ride... The convertible has been tweaked for better ride comfort and suspension, and like the Aviation Special launched last year, a fixed rear wing made from carbon-fiber reinforced polymer has been fitted to both the coupe and convertible. Both special editions continue to be powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine, producing 471 horsepower, still transmitted to the rear wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The limited edition Pinnacle Edition after its launch can be seen as the final version of the Lexus LC luxury car line, as many rumors have said that this model is about to be "discontinued". In the US, Lexus has discontinued the LC 500h hybrid version and at the recently held Goodwood festival of speed, the company also brought a test version of the next sports coupe model with the expected name LFR.
