Need to raise vigilance against new variant of Covid

In Vietnam, in recent days, the number of Covid-19 cases has increased slightly in Ho Chi Minh City and some provinces and cities with an average of about 20 cases/week, there have been no severe cases and no new XEC variant has been recorded circulating in Vietnam. However, the Ministry of Health recommends that people need to be more vigilant against Covid-19, follow 6 recommendations to protect their health and that of their families.

In the province, since the beginning of the year, Vinh Phuc has recorded 3 cases of Covid-19 in Phuc Yen city and Yen Lac district. According to the provincial Center for Disease Control, currently, no new strain of Covid-19 has been detected, the cases have mild symptoms and are treated promptly. The epidemic situation is well controlled.

At medical facilities, when coming to see a doctor and receive treatment, the units have proactively advised people to wear masks and wash their hands with sanitizer to reduce the risk of infection with viruses and bacteria. The health sector has increased information and propaganda about the epidemic situation in the world and the development of the Covid-19 epidemic in provinces and cities in the country and in the province so that people know and proactively implement health protection measures.

Dr. Nguyen Van Truong, Director of the Provincial Center for Disease Control, said: “In order to effectively control the Covid-19 epidemic and dangerous infectious diseases spreading in the province, the Provincial Center for Disease Control coordinates with medical facilities to strengthen monitoring and closely supervise the epidemic situation in the area, especially cases showing signs of illness traveling from other areas to the province; increase the effectiveness of diagnosis and testing to detect new strains of Covid-19; effectively carry out propaganda activities, raise awareness and knowledge of disease prevention for people. Cases showing signs of cough, fever, and difficulty breathing need to go to a medical facility immediately for timely examination and detection of the disease. The Provincial Center for Disease Control proactively develops plans and advises the Department of Health on epidemic prevention measures when the number of cases increases and outbreaks occur on a large scale.”

Together with the health sector, the police force and related sectors, localities also increase information and warnings about the epidemic situation and implement disease prevention and control measures when necessary.
