This was also the topic raised at the forum “Developing new impulses for the country”, which took place in Hanoi on the afternoon of May 7. The event focused on discussing the requirements for personnel training to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.
Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation, emphasized that Vietnam needs a "new war" won by knowledge and technology. He said that while in the past, it was necessary to have universal education to become literate, today every citizen needs to know how to use technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI).
"We must create young generations with knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence, promoting the strength of the whole people," commented the Chairman of FPT.
Mr. Binh also emphasized that if it cannot train AI human resources, Vietnam will be left out of the technology game, but on the contrary, it can become a global workforce if it takes the lead in AI training.
At the forum, experts were also asked to sketch a portrait of "Engineer 57" - a new workforce that meets the requirements of the Resolution.
Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the Board of FPT University, said that these engineers need technological knowledge and practical skills to participate in the digital transformation process in state agencies and enterprises. The training program should include state management, modern business administration, digital economy, digital finance, citizen experience in the digital service ecosystem, along with technological capabilities such as innovation, cybersecurity and digital ethics.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, General Director of FPT Corporation, added requirements on legal thinking, public administration standards and system design thinking for "Engineer 57".
"When we build a standardized mindset from the beginning, we will be able to train 57 engineers," said Mr. Khoa.
From a banking perspective, Mr. Le Thanh Tung, a member of the Board of Directors of VietinBank, pointed out the shortage of qualified personnel in AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. He emphasized that "Engineer 57" in the banking industry needs digital technology knowledge, foreign language skills, modern management skills, and the ability to learn for life.

Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Thuy, Director of the Office of Private Economic Development Research (Department IV), proposed three groups of "Engineers 57" that need to be trained: Specialized science and technology engineers (deep understanding of the industry); smart administrators and managers (application of data, technology); and business analysis experts (connecting processes, data, technology).
To meet this need, FPT University has announced a strategic reserve force training program, abbreviated as KS57. The program consists of 8 modules, divided into 2 main content groups: components of the digital transformation ecosystem (state management, business management, digital economy, customer experience) and core competencies (helping to implement digital transformation at the system level). The program applies comprehensive AI in content design and teaching.
The event also marked the launch of the Strategic Human Resources Alliance, comprising the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; the Academy of Cryptography; Hanoi University of Science and Technology; the University of Engineering and Technology - Vietnam National University, Hanoi; and FPT University. The alliance aims to contribute to building and developing a team of high-quality intellectuals and experts, promoting training programs suitable for the new context.
